Here's something. You can take a destroyed MS 170 that's been dropped from a tree, salvage a bunch of the parts and mount them on an old 025 that refuses to die. The bar studs are the same size, the oiler lines up, and the MS 170 clutch drum and sprocket can be mounted and work with the 025 power head. Just thought I'd pass that along for discussion.

I made the video before I found a bar and chain.... I had to dig deep and I'll get another video when I sharpen the old chain.

One of mine fell off a tree trimmer truck and was in million pieces so I took just the motor and found a smoke MS250 and replaced the motor and another one my nephew forgot to mix oil in the fuel and ......

We had one die a horrid death last week from about 60ft..want it ?

I think they are good little saws when they breathe well.

Must've gotten stuck in the mud at the bottom of the lake on a windy day, or someone was a little heavy handed on the anchor rope.

I found out little while ago that it's back and going thru chemo again now

I really didnt even look at it yet..most of the plastic is busted up , im sure theres some decent parts on it.

Ok got a video of it with a bar and chain.
I only opened up the muffler and put a wt215 carb. I found the chain in a pile of parts and never touched it...

That log is very very dry white oak.

I bought a $7 carb on ebay, and punched out the square stamping under the louvers on the muffler , opened the louvers a bit,
And sold this $25 saw for $200, lmfao.

I may have to try that muffler mod on the 025 I just saved. I only ran into one quirk on that carb upgrade. The choke lever control was sticky and would not release when switched to fast idle. A little lube and using it a few times solved the problem. Not sure how you got that saw for $25, but that's your business.

Advance the timing by shaving the key .020 and it'll be noticeable.

My cousin bought the saw and used it for a season cutting christmas trees , had problems with it starting, and then the chain oiler quit.
He got annoyed and replaced it with a Husky

The low speed screw was stripped in the carb, and the oiler problem was a plug blown out behind the muffler.
I bought it as a package deal with an ms180 with issues for $50.

Advance the timing by shaving the key .020 and it'll be noticeable.

I slipped with the dremel and trimmed more than I planned off the flywheel key.
It was noticable, really made it start easier warm, about a three inch pull has it running .
The muffler mod amazed me at how much it improved things.
