I worked for a number of years with some engineers who did HAZOPs and design support at a couple of refineries in the Billings area.
PSM touches on alot of HAZOP items. Work often with engineers on that sort of thing..Also sit in on model reviews and the like to give Operations point of view. The refineries are in a state of constant change so there is always work.

Is oil abrasive to engines? Like how water makes river rocks smooth?

Water isnt abrasive to rocks. The rocks being forced into contact with each other by water are abrasive .
As are the grit/soil/minerals dissolved or suspended in the water. A water jet metal cutter isn’t cutting with metal; it’s using abrasives suspended in water.

Not unless it’s the last cup out of a 55 gal drum; sometimes there’s an astonishing amount of crud in the bottom.

Which is why its not smart to run pig rich all the time.
Yeah in a 4T fuel can wash oil off the cylinder walls especially under cold starts choke dumps fuel in.
Not so sure it matters in a 2T oil is suspended in the fuel its not straight fuel.

A mate I knew years ago got a 44 gal drum of plonk (wine) from a local winery here I'm taking around 20 years or so ago.. It took him years to get through it and one night he had a few people around having a BBQ or something..
Anyways he was saying they finally got to the bottom of it and to his surprise and everyone that was drinking out of the drum that night there was like 20 dead preserved rats in the bottom! Apparently a few people vomited with this discovery. 😆

That’s reminiscent of the bowl of soup joke. Courtesy of the “tell me a joke” thread.

A young cowboy walks into a seedy cafe in Mackay, Idaho. He sits at the counter and notices an old cowboy with his arms folded staring blankly at a full bowl of chili.

After several minutes of just sitting there staring at it, the young cowboy bravely asks the old cowpoke, "If you ain't gonna eat that, mind if I do?"

The older cowboy slowly turns his head toward the young wrangler and in his best cowboy manner says, "Nah, go ahead."

Eagerly, the young cowboy reaches over and slides the bowl over to his place and starts spooning it in with delight. He gets nearly down to the bottom and notices a dead mouse in the chili. The sight was shocking and he immediately pukes up the chili into the bowl.

The old cowboy quietly says, "Yep, that's as far as I got, too."

Yes it does matter in a two stroke. The oil is suspended in the fuel of course, but once the mixture enters the crank case the majority of it flashes to vapors and thus depositing the oil on the internal parts. Running rich cools down the motor to the point you have excessive liquid fuel internaly. Liquid premix has nearly zero lubricating properties. Thats why a rich motor smokes and a properly tuned one doesnt.
