Alright cool, I can see that's the general consensus on here. I just got 3 new ported-up pro saws for the 1st time in my life and I want them to last as long as possible cuz I'm poor and I really like em.

You can see from this training video where they have bottles of Lube Tech oil of several different formulations that were tested before they selected whatever they're using now for the Maxpro.

The FD rating is especially good for blowers and weed-eaters that are on full blast for long periods of time, works great in chainsaws too for their runs on full throttle. I use Harvest King products (bottled by VP fuels) which are also FD rated. EDIT: I have some Lucas 2-cycle oil that is also FD rated, but have not tried it yet.

If it's the Lucas semi-synthetic like this 17090059100688349763109116555708.jpg
Then it's not actually FD rated and gets a bad rap for being really dry inside on tear-downs.. they claim it ''meets and exceeds" but there's no FD rating and corresponding number on the bottle so it's just a claim.

What??? Stihl doesn't have the FD sticker on theirs?? GASP!! I guess that is why they only offer a 2 year warranty when you buy the Stihl oil or fuel compared to Huskvarna's 5 year when you buy their FD rated oil/fuel. :D
Try and get them to cover anything with the warranty though. While they both try and get out of it husky seems far worse than Stihl. Think Stihl silver is fb.

I used gallons of spectrum no smoke 2 stroke for years the last few bottles were labeled Phillips 66/spectrum after they bought them out but now they quilt carrying locally. Fd rated synthetic oil for 20$ a gallons was pretty nice and never had any issues with it. Harvest king oil is vp? I know the premix is they handle it where my wife works.

From what little research I've done, it's made by Lubrication Technologies.
I have no clue tho.
What I didn’t like on the harvest king was basically no ratings at least on the old bottles. Basically said air cooled 2 cycle oil for use in everything but then said exceeds api tc i believe which is 70’s stuff haha

A buddy gave me a bottle of this.
I'd never heard of it.
Might try it in my weedeater.

Ive been using it for 10 years plus at 40:1 and it's great. The few engines I have taken apart that used it were clean and shiny inside. One and only thing I don't like is it does not color the fuel much, so you can't really tell which fuel is mixed by just looking at it. Mark your fuel can in big letters so you always know.

Harvest King was made by Citgo. Rural King changed the name of their store brand oil to Providence so I don't know if that also means a different supplier. I use their synthetic 4 stroke oil in everything from 1955 Ferguson tractor to our 2016 Toyota Rav 4 and it's great. 220k on the Ford Ranger, 270k on the Honda Accord, and 340k on the Mazda 626 and zero internal engine repairs whatsoever.

anyone got a picture of what Dominator at 40:1 looks like inside an engine during teardown?
I've seen a few of Red Armor and it looks pretty good, never seen one with Dominator though.

It’s likely a decent oil down around 24:1 because it burns so clean. But I wouldn’t run it any leaner than that. It doesn’t leave much for residual oil for the bearings

I’ve torn lots down at 32:1 and 40:1 and everything is spotless. It needs 32:1 to leave a small puddle of residual oil in the case. But most oils are like that, other than red armor, Honda HP2, and Castrol Go. I like seeing the puddle

Good to know, I have torn down a bunch that are a mess. Been running 40:1 in all of my stuff for the past year.
Like I said in the last post, the ratio should be decided more by the oil and the saw, rather than just running everything at 32:1 or everything at 40:1. Thicker oils don’t like to run in autotune or MTronic stuff at heavy ratios and they don’t like to start in the winter in any saw. Red armor leaves more oil behind at 50:1 then 90% of the other oils on the market at 32:1. Personally I run Dominator because it burns cleaner then Red armor and I can get it here in town
