Don't know if you're seeing this or not, but don't let myself influence what you do here. And maybe my skin is just too thick and maybe I jumped on you to harshly. I apologize for insulating you, you're right I shouldn't have insinuated that you're doing something and unscrupulous. Like you maybe it's because of the way internet forms can be, maybe I've been around too long. None of us should take ourselves so seriously, especially right now.
Correct. ALL 2T works. Has anyone EVER had an oil related issue at 32:1 or even 40:1? I doubt it no matter the brand. I enjoy oil threads but it’s not important because all 2T will serve our need at the correct ratio. This testing is entertaining but will not persuade me to change my current oil brand if I’m having success with it.

You know guys, this whole deal has me really contemplating what I'm doing here. I'm mad and bummed at myself for the spectacle brought forth tonight. This type of thing is exactly why I quit joining forums years ago. There is always someone..... Anyway, I apologise for my behavior. Im going to sleep on it. I may just become the lurker again. I'm getting to old to deal with this. I may have a fresh perspective in th am. Maybe the magic ignore button will take care of the issue. I'm here to have fun, learn something and maybe teach something, even if by accident. Life is to short to be insulted by perfect strangers I don't even have to associate with. So, guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow because right now Im over this whole ordeal. Peace
Keep up the good work. I always enjoy tests. I’ve been in your shoes in the past testing difference octanes.

I doubt there have been many oil related failures at 50:1

My coworker is an engineer that use to test 2T oils at their San Antonio facility on new chainsaw engines. He blended oils for Stihl and husqvarna. Each had same stock oil but different additive packages. One company required 32:1 the other 40:1 for their products. They MEASURED actual wear and other criteria. He said once you move up to racing oils you’ll have better stock oil and additive packages. So I agree with Andy’s point AND Eggshooter. I believe Eggshooter’s results but Andy is probably thinking like me each 2T oil, racing or not, has a lab proven viscosity for protection and it’s application. Racing oil, higher viscosities, WILL provide more protection. Racing teams use RACING OIL for a reason...more protection and viscosity needed for its application. ANY 2T oil at 40:1 or less, I’m certain you’ll never have an oil- related engine issue. There’s no “best” oil for multiple applications.
He blended Stihl oil? Dont believe anything Ole Chief Puff of Wind has to say!!!! After 4 years of repairing OPE thats the worst oil Ive ever seen in OPE internally and thats from actual real world use and observations and not lab results. Also in this test so far a lower viscosity OPE oil looks to have out performed a racing high viscosity oil?

I have a buddy, Logger - retired now, get a new 461 which stopped operating within 5 months. The Stihl shop said it was oil-related due to lack of lubrication in the crank case. He said the Stihl mechanic told him to start mixing at 40:1. Never had an issue later.

Not one failure do to the oil it's self. Now some saws with weak bottom ends tend to like more oil. But one could ask is that really an oil issue or flawed design.

Only oil that I'm actually afraid to run is Lucas.

He blended for both Stihl and Husqvarna. Husqvarna requested an additive package to be set at 32:1. Stihl was 40:1. Stihl is still blended in this area but not the synthetic. Viscosity is ACTUAL data not visual observations same as tech sheets.

A professional motocross or enduro team will never use red armor....application based on viscosity. Competition saws use high viscosity oils like Klotz for a reason. It’s all application based.

Comes with the territory, been there myself, how we deal with it is what matters IMHO.
Exactly. The type of oil used in my chainsaw, not as a trade, is very low on my priority list. The few loggers I know use the cheapest 2T oils they can find with regular ethanol gas and their saws run for years. It’s just a cheap tool to them compared to other logging equipment. Most Logging outfits I talk to rarely use a handheld saw anymore and only use a pole saw for trimming the logs on trucks.

The lawn guys run Walmart supertech oil "not sure if it's synthetic or not" works just fine in all but the 4mix engines, which nobody around here likes to run anymore, guys didn't maintain them correctly! If maintained correctly they last a long time.

Well in this paticular test here the actual viscosity added up to BS IMO. 800t should have far surpassed a low viscosity ope oil but didnt. Hard to explain. Maybe the racing oils dont over protect like we think in an ope application but in motocross equioment but 1 thing is sure that it didnt add up in this test

My only issue at 32:1 was with belray not letting me tune rich enough. There was oil left to keep it from seizing but it didn’t like it and was on the way to eating the piston up.

Raised the idle and final tuning, but could still tune to provide enough fuel. I could see that being a problem though. From this it looks like H1R could require 15% more fuel. I'm sure you've seen this before. View attachment 2 stroke Oil Test.pdf
