Can fogging help prevent the process or is it a degradation between the polar ester and moisture that affects the whole product being compromised or just a matter of rust?
I don't know.
When I run a motor on ester oil before I store it I run a tank of 2R through it, usually at a lower ratio. I then fog.

Rugers better for hunting, especially the super blackhawk 44 mag, but my Colt new frontier 45LC loaded with Buffalo bore works up close.

SBH aren't rated for the hots according to Garrett's:

I know the BB says SBH, but the 2 real nice 7.5" SBHs I had didn't like the above mentioned loads at all.

The cylinder would only turn with increased pressure on the hammer after 2-3 rounds being fired.

I've got RedHawks now, and no more drag.

Gonna need a report
I posted a few videos in the saw video thread. I only finished up my Motul 800 at 40:1 today. Exhaust looked real good. No spooge. Stroking at top, but cleaned up well in the cut.
I will try the Saber hopefully tomorrow. Still got lots to cut down. I didn't want to mix the fuel/oil, so I chose to just finish up the Motul 800 and start on the Saber next. Lol

Oils r hygroscopic by nature arent they?
Dino oils aren't much. A POE or PAG oil like I sell in the refrigeration market is very hygroscopic as they're sold in metal containers. The mineral or alky based oils always are sold in plastic containers.
Even OPE "synthetics" contain low amounts of esters so they're pretty stable too.

I had a Redhawk and use to shoot 300 grs. I'm considering a Freedom Arms.

The worst oil I have ever seem from a corrosion stand point is Redline and it's uses POE base stocks.
