Soooooo where are we at as far as oil goes? Any stand outs that make the top 5 easily? Is 32-40:2 still acceptable with a good synthetic? I still think i wanna look up some premium dino oil fir that oldtime smell i grew up on. I can still smell that smell im my memory of the snomobiles first start up in the garage....... god i miss those years of my life.

You can always justify another saw.

I think most of us would agree, it's all about the application. Then we'll fight it out over the brands and types.

Hey guys, I was thinking about these take downs im doing. Thinking the results would be different depending on the load on the saw right?

In other words

ported saw running 32:1 xyz oil with a 41" .404
vs
stock saw running 32:1 xyz oil with 24" 3/8

things would probably be dryer etc etc on the ported saw.

So thinking I should just use a ported saw and load it up the same way every time (long bar .404 full comp) and run every oil at 32:1 and then do my take downs. (also I have a ton of wood in the same pile I could buck up...so the wood and cutting would be the same as well)

thoughts?
Probably as consistent as u will be able to control?

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking when I asked you about your B&C setup a day or so ago. I would think running a short bar with an "easy" load is gonna burn a lot different than the long bar buried dogs-deep.

But what the hell do I know, I'm just the helper...

... Just out of curiosity, Redbull, what B&C setup do you test with?...

I agree load and application would be as much of a contributing factor as any thing else. Like my experience with red armor almost no smell and very clean in the saws at 42.5 :1 but the weed eater has some damp on the exhaust and the smell is definitely noticeable.
The Dolmar synthetic seems more even across application and load.

Load has a huge influence.

I was seeing it mentioned that the Super Tech Fully Synthetic in the silver bottle was made by citgo. The bottles of it I have been using up here in washington have a WPP on the bottom which is Warren Petroleum. I would believe it is most likely this or very close to it.

This oil has been working just fine for me and the price is great.

Damn Ben! Why does someone have to be stupid if they don't reason as you do? It must suck going through life thinking everyone else is stupid...

I didn't say anyone was stupid. I said running a mesh filter is stupid. IMO it is. Essentially your trading of filtration for a miniscule increase in performance. With most saws you will never know the differance performance wise

You quoted Keith saying he uses mesh filters, and then said using mesh filters was stupid. It's not much of a stretch...
Instead of sharing that you feel "others choices" are stupid, why not share your experience as to why you feel this way. At least then we can learn something!
Your a smart man with valuable insight, but the way you treat others is exactly why some have left this site...
