Sounds like on fast sleigh you got there.
Sleds are cool our neighbors had Articats and HD. The two with sportster motors were super cool and fuggin loud. You now when the Wolfs were out on the move. We had a 340 twin Chaparell (sp)
Others had stuff nearing 120 mph in the early eighties. Scary fast back then. Leaf springs and boogie wheels

That looks way easier than working on a seadoo RXX.
Had a customer with one heavily modified that he would grenade at least once a season.
Major PITA to work on.
Don't have pics anymore that phone went swimming...
These 2 pistons will make 9 total.

Rxx is only a twin...
But I still got you by 1 slug!!
LOL

Water ingestion was usually the culprit. Either directly or into fuel system.

Luckily these were VERY limited production and this was the only one I ever tangled with.
From brand new it lasted a whopping 2 hrs before the first time it came apart.
It got some "upgrades" at that time and made it to almost 10 hrs before a repeat destruction.
After the last time I rebuilt it around 07' or 08' I believe he sold it out of state so I never saw it again.
If I remember correctly it had 38 total hrs on it the last time it left me.
