Jeez, I've broken two of them in last year. What size should I be using? If it's too big, it won't rewind quickly on the reel. Cord for venetian blinds looks too wimpy.

What do the experts recommend? Thank you.

I bought a roll of 5.5 millimeter a few years ago. I think it is a good all around size. I’ve used it on chainsaws and snowblowers and log splitters. I got a deal on it.

The answer IMO is 'the correct size'. Starter cord comes in quite a few diameters for good reason and there are several besides just strength. I have 3 100ft rolls from memory 3.5mm/4.5 mm & 5.5 mm. This roughly does everything from a 25cc trimmer/saw too a 90cc saw or 6hp push mower. There's a bit of flexibility but not a lot stay close to the manufacturer spec.
