I got a 550xpg from Spike for $550 shipped to my door. I can't see where you are at, so don't know if heat matters to you.?
How do you like it?

it's awesome stock. appt with MM in Feb. I don't like the grey paint, so I bought orange cases and covers for it. Looking forward to having an all orange 550.

seriously though, the 545/550 is a great saw right out of the box. Ive had a Stihl 261cm, and felt it was "big boned" not quite what I want in a saw of that CC class. Another one to consider is the Jonsured 2260. It is very close to the size of the 550xp but has 10cc more. Where are you located?

Kenis (Dexter Day) is just like myself, I don't buy by the brand name, I buy by the model #. There are certain saws from each manufacturer that are great, and then there are turds from them as well.
