346 would be my choice but they aren't easily available .so the 550 xp is its replacement.

the biggest improvement you can do to a 545/550 is replace the crappy chain it comes with for a stihl 26RS

They are all pretty nice. We have 3 ported 50cc saws, a 2153, a 346, and an 026. I've run 550's and Dolmar 5100's also all very nice saws. But personally since I bought my ported 562 Husky I very very rarely touch my 50cc saws.

I just sold my mmws 562 it had low hours . I like the lightness of the 346. Boy I love a 2153

346xp or ms260 both are great saws. But if you wanted to do some tinkering i like the husky 350 for the fact that they are easy to find for cheap and with a little work run really good in my opinion. Yeah is not a pro saw but I've had my 4 for yrs and they have held up fine. I look for the 45mm saw and pull the dished down piston and replace with a flat top. Port the muffler, use a 357/359 carb. Get the metal replacement boot clamp. Advance the timing a hair, shave a little off the bearing cup with a flat plate and its a good running, lite little saw.

I bought two (353) 2152's used and there were pretty cheap. They are the exact same saw as a (346xp) 2153, other than the cylinder and piston. I fixed one (with all the best parts from the two) and swapped out the top end, then sold the P&C and the second saw for more than I paid for both saws.

Long story short, I only have about $300 into my 2152, with a ported 50cc NE top end and 357xp carb and intake.
