It was an MS460 carb on an 039.
Identical carb externally, about 5% bigger up the guts and delivers more fuel to keep up with the improved airflow.
$20 Chinese carb off eBay but anyway..... This is off topic.
I can start a seperate thread if anyone is interested or check out the 039 rebuild thread on AS

It would be much better if you would start a thread on this here. At least one person that I know of doesn't want to even look at anything else in that other site

This was my first cylinder I ever ported and I caught a ring in the transfers. Wow, I hacked the crap out of that poor thing!

I'm glad I didn't throw it away. I don't remember the numbers on it. do you think it could be saved? I'm thinking clean up all my ugly edges on my crap work bevel everything better do a 180 on the piston it might run.

I can't remember where the transfers are without degreeing it. I ask because I don't know how high can go with the transfers to get rid of the damage.

Did someone say pancakes!!

Damn this thread!!!!

An 024 AV was advertised this afternoon for about $300 and its hardly been used. One owner with a 13" bar and the origional factory 16" bar.

If I hadnt loaded up my 026 PRO today and found that it noodled a foot thick 2.5 foot high round like it was a wet paper bag, I would be looking to get one to play with.
I just dont have the cash..... or the need for another small saw.

But hot damn, didn't that little ported 026 motor!

A few questions about porting standard 024's.

Has anyone ever machined an 026 jug to fit the standard 024? It seems as if it would overly thin the base. Based on what I've been doing, my bases come in around .206. Do an extra mm would bring me to .186. Kinda thin.

I have the benefit of being able to build the plate up on top with some 4043 Tig. I could easily add .060 back and lathe the base plate smooth, just trying to figure out if worth it.

Anyone degree a standard 024? The exhaust should be naturally lower because of less piston movement per degree of crank rotation. Also, with the shorter stroke, my hot rodding days tell me it should rev higher. There will be less displacement pushed into the same combustion area, so the comp will be lower. Anyone know?

Czar, are you sure your intake port isn't too wide also?

If you can't raise that transfer notch, you can just blend and leave it.

I can look for stock numbers for you, just don't hold your breath.

I believe you're onto something with machining a 026 jug. Your concern about the base being too thin could it not be reinforced?

If you did build such a Franken saw it would be the first of its kind that I know of.

Yes I do believe I'm wide on the intake and also my transfers are too wide. That's why I was planning on rotating the piston 180 to get the ring pin placement on the exhaust side.
