I would kill for a laythe and tooling to be able to do some machine work on mine.
One day!

Great work mate, you are fast becoming the 026 guru!
Brewz,

Great to see you here mate. Glad you found it.

Gotta post up your carb info and your final tuning procedures when you're done.

Yeah i found it. I actually saw this forum was up and running but didnt know all the AS regulars were here.
Is this place preferable?

I will be getting some serious chunks of timber on Tuesday. Some will be firewood, some will be test blocks to be turned into cookies and woodchips

I need an 024 in my collection.

I just found an 024 AVS for sale here in Aus....... is the AVS an AV Super?
If i can get it cheap it will be a good little porting project. They are supposed to be cracking snappy little saws.

AVS=AV Super

You're 026 will be stronger than a stock 024 Super. The coolness factor and nostalgic value of a hopped up 024 can't be denied. Nicer looking saw IMHO.

I prefer this site. No insecure idiots with giant egos that think that any questioning of their opinion is a direct insult, and not just an inquiry for knowledge progression. At least so far...

Copy that.
Well most of the folks I usually converse with seem to be here so here it is.

I dont need another saw but I really enjoy pulling them to bits and modifying them. No one ever said it would stay stock if I get it.

He wants $250AU for it and it looks to be in good nick but its more than I want to pay for a project saw that I dont really need.

I have to say....

Not buying a saw cause you don't need it?

That's like not eating cause you're not hungry.

You have more self control than I.

Invite your buddies in Oz to this site please.

He refused to drop his price so I told him he could keep it.
I still have much to do and learn with the 026.

I will be taking it with me when i go to shop some big logs with my 066. Will run it to noodle the big rounds into smaller lift able bits and see how it runs.
Actually I might take my 039 as well and see which one is better.
I have speed, weight and usability in mind
THe 039 has 10 tanks of fuel on a full rebuild with a dual port muffler mod and a modified MS460 carb that's proved it to be a torque monster. The 026 is going to need to really pull hard to keep up

Good read here. I have a decent little ms260 that needs a topend. I am going to cut the fins on the jug, and put new 024 plastic on it , and make it an ms240.

How much trouble was it to put the 046 carb on the 036?

Stud width, and size is the same on most carbs from the 024, to the 066.

Linkage, impulse, choke, etc.......that's where the pains start.

That may be a typo,

I remember him putting an 046 carb on his 039.

The same width of the studs is interesting.

The linkage and levers we could custom make and tig on.

66 vs. 49cc. The 260 wont reach a muff modded 039. Aint gonna happen.

I have plans and the parts to put a complete 088 intake on an 066. It's gunna be a royal pain in the arse. But doable

Fins cut. I didn't go as far as mastermind did out of pure laziness. The cover fits though. Maybe there will be better cooling, who knows.

Passed vacuum test, that's real good. I woulda hated to put her apart.
