I tried to go square where the transfer opened on the intake side. I spent a lot of time on port shape on this jug. It doesn't fully show, but the ports are squared in certain spots and rounded in others. The glass beading really gave the intake port a factory type finish when done. It appears fully stock.

Piston cut flat. Windows relieved. Casting flash smoothed.

.058 taken out of this chamber and it was cut flat. Strangely enough, I'm not free porting at TDC. Care has to be taken to not touch the exhaust roof or floor on this model. Just widen and blend into the factory port arcs.

I ran Mel's 024/026 hybrid and it really rips, and it's nice and light. I'd like to see the difference between this and a ported 024 jug. Just wondering if the extra work cutting the fins and such is worth it. I've got an 024 sitting here...

Why is the intake d shaped like this?

You're welcome to the cylinder on the saw Dan.

It's 42 vs. 44mm. Theres no replacement for displacement. Youre leaving alot on the table with the smaller jug.

I think its because of the relation of the port vs. carb entry point. The flat wall likely flows better around a curve.

And what about case volume? Do the jugs need to be ported differently on the 024 than the 026?

Ok. So essentially you are turning it into an 026 with 024 badging. So fins need to be cut to fit 024 top cover?
