Was the Echo CS-7310P a fad or is anyone running them?

Is anyone running the Echo CS-7310P? They seem to been a hot item when they first came out but now you don't seem to hear anything about them. I have never ran one stock nor ported. Is anyone getting big gains on them from stock to ported? How do they stack up against the 572XP, 372XP, MS440,MS462 or even the dolmar 7310 ? How about the new design from Echo, are they easy to tear down or work on?

7310p is still about $100 cheaper than a 572.

Just picked up a 7310p for $700, used but like-new.

I'll likely pick up a new 7310pw PHO when I see a good sale price- probably have Kevin optimize it. They're great saws.

I wouldn't mind trying one myself, I was just wondering why they went silent so quickly. Or maybe I haven't did enough recent research. Thanks for sharing the video.

The full time porters on this forum can tell you realistically what they get out of a saw after woods porting them. Some brands/models perform better than others, I would start there if I were you. It’s how I came to my decision on my 7900 Makita for sure, it’s not a 500i, but it’s right there with it at a price I was willing to pay for that class saw.

Agreed! Is it possible a ported 7310 could cut or make as much power as the ported 572 or 462.

Not in my experience. If I gain 40% on the 7310 and 25% on a 572, the 572 out runs it by quite a bit. Same with the 462

Thanks for the info Kevin!

@Outdoors

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not beating up on the 7310, just answering questions. I think it’s a fine saw that will last forever. But no one has asked those questions
Exactly, I think Echo makes a fine product but Sometimes you just gotta ask the touch questions lol. I have zero experience with the 7310, but if I wanted a ported 70cc saw I want the biggest bang for the buck. The 572 runs excellent with a muffler mod, hadn't had a chance to run one ported.

Yeah that’s basically where I was going. I like the echo for being old school. The other side of that is that for the same money I can get a new 372 0E from the Philippines and have a saw that has better parts availability and still an old school 2 stroke with an adjustable carburetor

That's great the OE 372 is still somewhat obtainable.

I have turned down every opportunity to do the 7310. I just ain't willing to go to the trouble of figuring out a saw that I will rarely do.
I don't blame you, that would have been a lot of time and effort put into a saw that seemed to fizzle out fairly quickly.

That can be made really fast!

A mostly retired logger I’m friendly with was given a 7310 by an echo dealer to try and get attention to it, he talks alot of smooth and easy to start it is. But one it was free and two he’s coming from 066’s and 125 Mac’s cutting big trees in northern Quebec.

Last time I saw one at a dealer it was $1429 same price as a 462 pretty much. Having ran both I’d take a 462 and the larger/better dealer support (in my area)
