I pulled this Sears Roper "Bolt Action" self sharpening saw out for a cleaning. Basically the same saw as the MF 270 AR.

Missing the bolt, if anyone has parts, photos, or a manual I'd be interested in seeing what it is supposed to look like.

We got the chain cleaned up late in the day so I'll get it finished on Monday. .325 pitch chain but not the Power Sharp variety.

Heck, I'll send you a complete saw if you want it. 100% intact except for the rubber handle grip, been sitting on a shed wall since '79 or so. Weirdo chain, roller nose bar, sharpener, the works.

I'll send you a pm Mark, I'll throw up a few pics of the guts for anyone who's interested. From what I see, the big knob on the side pushes the stone against the chain and rubs on the drum to slow it down. The little knob controls how much meat the stone takes off the teeth.

I think the lipstick stones were the ones uses on the Mini Mac and 300 Series models, the stones were cylindrical and advanced with a knob on the saw. Stone is 3, knob is 2.

The Ropers use a curved stone that conforms to the contour of the chain as it comes around the sprocket like the system used on the 2-10 PS (Power Sharp) models.

See post 665 as well.

I've been keeping busy with saw repairs, chain sharpening, parts orders, and wood cutting along with other household chores trying to get things ready for winter but did find time to get a couple of saws cleaned up for the display this week.

This one is a very low hour that really only needed wiping the dust off.

If it reminds you of a McCulloch PM610, there is a good reason for that.

This Remington was used pretty thoroughly, but no worries, I have a new one in the package if I ever need a little featherweight saw.

O.K., in the interest of full disclosure...the bar on the used saws is not an original...
