What is your 361 trick? @Lightning Performance
Pull the spider mount under the bar. It will feel sloppy so go sharpen your chain. Smooth as silk for a hybrid AV system. It will not handle anything over a 20" es with the spider removed. You can cut a soft one down then run the 24" I don't.
Three mounts are available for that location.

OK I double checked this morning, I did indeed have the pin pushed in and the oiler a full 1/4 turn.

When you say hot rod 60cc saw, do you mean getting one of those models ported as well? Do guys port the smaller saws too?
Yes, I have a ported jonsered 2159 and 2165

Ok my buddy got back to me with pricing on a new MS462-CM. With a 20" bar it's $1123.81, with 25" bar it's $1133.85. these are out the door prices. How does that sound compared to what you guys have seen? Tax is 6.75% where I'm at. I think it's a decent price. I'm thinking I will go with a standard 20" bar, and if I decide down the road I want something a little longer on it, I'll look at an aftermarket light bar. Maybe a Tsumura?

I'd suggest putting a lite bar on it as well:beer-toast1:

It's sadly the way of "progress", regardless of actual improvement. Form what I read, the 462 in a darn fine saw, and I would like to try one. But, I don't think it will quite as capably replace the 046/460/461 when you're in hard wood and running a 28" bar. I'd be happy to be wrong though!!

I would love to be able to use a processor. But, in KS, the trees we have are usually hard, often twisted (due to wind) and short/fat of trunk with sprawling canopies, unless you get into a dense Hedge row or a large stand of timber, where they have to fight for light. If left alone you might need a 28-36" for 4-7 cuts, and then taper down pretty quickly into 50-60cc territory, and then kindling limbs...

No matter where I cut, the 3 saws (or sizes) that ALWAYS go out w/me are a 40cc top handle, a 50cc saw and a 60cc saw. I then have 70-90+ cc choices after that, if need be. Why throw around large saws for a massive amount of small precise cuts? Hell one fo the guys here, out of Missouri, used only a ported 346xp to cut wood one year, and wasn't badly armed! He has a decent collection of choices, including 1 or more ported 357xp(s) and a ported 359 (IIRC), but for the type and size of wood he was intentionally targeting, the 346 did superbly!

Come to think of it, a ported 357xp (more top-end) or 359 (more torque) are nearly perfect firewood saws, and Dad's mooberized 262 that he bought off of @Mastermind is right there, just with a bit less A/V provisions, but every bit a pissed off towards trees as a whole!
