After cutting on it a bit and trying to separate with no luck. What if I mill a 1/8 To 1/4 slot under this flange? I think this is a good spot. Downward angle

I would rather get another deflector and making another port on the side if you can't get it open if it was me.

Open that up alittle more and put one on the other side too. It'll run just be careful because you'll have to retune it.

Really that much. Yes I get tune stuff. This is practice muff. Another hole this is 1/4 x 1/2 now

From a guy who used to run all stihl...the 395 might be one of the most impressive saws I've ever run. A 36" bar is childs play on a 395, where it is questionable on a 660.

You'll likely have to richen the low side quite a bit. Mine with the front exit was something crazy like 3 turns out.

180 and change after running. Idle was great. Only small blips. No carb tool yet

It isn't very hard to cut the tube out using a flex shaft grinder with a ball burr. You'll need a little more torque than a Dremel. It's fairly easy to do without splitting the muffler.

Yeah but my hole was about 1 1/2" by 1"

I will get new muffler and put 288 deflector on it. I think if I cut tube off inside and add a 1/2in hole for duel it will breath. Only gonna cut tube in half, I don' want to melt break arm

If the deflector is done correctly, you can open that hole real nice And nothing will melt

I’ve never melted a brake flag with a single port on these saws. I’ve cut on some pretty hot days too.

After seeing the pics posted of a 395 muffler split open, I am 100% confident the method I chose of adding the second port ahead of the factory port will get it breathing easier. The second port I made is as big or bigger than the original behind it only it doesn't force the exhaust out that funnel.
