.021 is great on a 395, don’t let the numbers consume you before you put it through some wood. They are strong saws stock, you’re just making it better.
I F'ed up. It's not at .021 I lost .021, hope everyone saw this didn't look back. I can't pull now but should be .030ish

I hoped to hear this. Thank You. This is what makes these sites fun. I'm still up when we wanna get into that muff I ready. Do I try and split it and open or wait for deflector. 288
Adding another deflector is definitely a simpler way to get the job done. Some may disagree, but that’s what I prefer to do.

IIRC the reason I added the second port and deflector ahead of the seam in the muffler was because putting the second port there allows exhaust out without forcing it back through the tube. Been a little while so I'd have to have a second look... But I don't think I would do it that way if I didn't see a benefit from it

My 394 is down at XP_Slinger's house right now... I think he's robbing parts off it for his!

I bought a 395 to add to my stable. Mainly because of the recommendations of @mdavlee and Randy. All my other saws are Stihls. Running it against a stock 661, it will spank it every time. It is going to Randy as soon as soon as I can get it to him. It really shines in the 32" plus bar sizes. I have a 24", 36" and 42" for mine

394/5 does seem to cross a threshold, doesn't it Dustin. Josh's 288 is a fine saw and very impressive in it's own right. But stepping up one size to our 394s, they seem like there is more than 7cc difference. They have a snarl to them you can FEEL...but in the weight and handling department, the difference is pretty stark to me. The 288 feels closer to a 372 in my hands than the 394.

Should have new comp numbers this afternoon. I have deflector and carb tool on order. I still think this muff needs to be split. For 1 new deflector will be bolted to thin for machine screws. And I ain't gonna try and weld it. 2 if tube is cut away it looks to me if stock port is opened that would be plenty. Thoughts????

Mine has the tube removed and the exit opened, and a much larger deflector replacing the stock one. I'll get pics in a bit. It's plenty

If you cut the tube and open the stock outlet. You will melt the brake flag in short order. From my past 395 experience.

Have to add material to the stock deflector, or another deflector
