Look closely at the rails to see if it wore evenly, more than half of the ones I have seen wear unevenly and can't be used as race bars, though they make fine display pieces.
The tips can sometimes be reconditioned if they are not working properly but fixing bar rails is too costly.
Most bars can be converted to fit whatever saw you have in mind as long as they have a large enough tail to start with.
