Circlips suck when they fly off. And it's always at the point of most tension when they launch.

Zeus himself can't stop fuel from pissing out of the fuel line once the carb is removed...empty the gas tank before you tear down.

In addition to that : you may as well empty the bar oil as well ,because you really don't want to have to change a second time in less than 10 minutes .

Just crack the cap.

It's always a good idea to empty the oil tank before splitting the cases, too

I always keep an appropriate size nail for plugging the fuel line after I pull the carb. Cracking the cap first does not seem to get rid of much of the pressure.

Pull the carb, finger over the hole, insert nail. I always do it out side.

I usually clamp a pair of forceps on the line before I take it off the carb. Very handy tools.

I put a big fat magnet from a speaker in the bottom of my shop vac. Found a few clips and such that way.

Just occurred today as I was assembling my project 359....

tip# 169: After fiddling with compression ring pliers to get the correct bite that facilitates the proper amount of opening to install the compression ring, don't get so side-tracked with fiddling with the ring pliers that you forget to check and make sure the ring is right-side-up! If you install a compression ring upside-down, when you attempt to install the cylinder over the piston, the ring does not fully compress due to the ring gap taper being incorrect in it's relationship with the ring locator pin! SMH!

I have tiny plastic forceps that can clamp the fuel line while it is still on the carb.
They remind me of my dad, I had to use them when I was flushing his mainline in his chest for him.

It's hardly ever the things that you'd expect that bring a memory forward. Thanks for sharing Dave.

How about making sure you put the chain on right.

Make sure you hook up the throttle before attempting to start it.

Remember to turn the needles out on the carb after seating them when you clean and kit it.

Install the diaphragm and gasket in the right order.

Connect the kill switch wires.

Install piston in the right direction.

Make sure all the screws are out of the case before attempting to split it.

Fill saw before starting...

Actually put plug boot onto the plug...

Fit 660 intake boot with cylinder, not afterward like a spastic with long nose pliers and swearing
