Finally got back to this.
Cut off the top till I reached the end of the barn, then picked at the limbs stuck in the ground to see where it wanted to go.
Figured out the root ball half in the creek was holding it in place.
I picked out the best spot with escape room behind me and cut till she started moving, she kept creeping slow and steady. Top of the trunk towards the ground and root ball into the creek bed.
It was like slow motion and oddly satisfying. It needed a little coaxing a couple times to finish it off.

Small fir from Monday



This little guy who landed on it was far more interesting. Wood wasp, they often show up around cut timber. They lay eggs in it and the larvae are apparently very tasty.

I’ve been working on clearing about 2 acres for some friends. Log prices are waaaaaaaaay down so unfortunately this decent sized Cherry isn’t worth much. Although it wouldn’t really matter with this tree because the butt log isn’t clean. Would’ve normally made the stump much lower but they have to pull them, gotta leave something they can latch onto with a hoe.

Cut a batch of dead/scorched trees today from a house fire last fall. 12’ dump trailer and a half of preheated wood. Love being paid to haul firewood.
