I agree Ryan. Have you ever had oiler holes plugging on your tsumura or “total” bars? They seem to plug the oiler hole more often for me since it’s not angled like the oregon/sugi ones. It’s just a round hole on most of the stihl mount tsumuras. It can be annoying sometimes. Good wearing bar though.

On certain species of wood. Yes.

Wasn’t big in diameter as some ash I've cut but this was probably one of the finest ash I’ve cut in quality. 70ft to the first branch no knobs and straight as a arrow... and it was alive. You don’t see em like that often especially with the majority of them dead here. View attachment 246546
Nice log, small heart. Really rare in ash these days

One of several Oak snags that had to come down today, thanks to the gypsy moths:

Any chance this ailing 32" dbh Oak (below) can recover?

I hate those frigin moths. A few spruce trees in my yard got infested with gypsy moth caterpillars last week. I think I saved one of them.

I would give your oak til next May to see if it recovers a little.

Wow. Nice Josh. Big cherry trees up there. Looks nice and fairly straight.
Saw is balanced perfectly on the lower dog spike. Lol. [emoji16][emoji106]
That’s how Hooskies roll:coti:

Just kidding...the saw fell just after I snapped the pic lmao!

Why did you punch half the hinge out @huskyboy ?
We do that when cutting veneer timber mostly to eliminate a lot of fiber pull. It’s a good idea when cutting ash or hickory usually as well. It greatly reduces the risk of a barberchair. For obvious reasons on a heavy side leaning tree or weaker trees you wouldn’t want to do this because it would compromise hinge strength. As with anything... the technique can make certain situations a lot safer and certain situations a lot more dangerous if used incorrectly!
