A little extra hinge on a side can help with directional falling for sure, the problem is this hinge pointed straight at the house we were trying to avoid lol

Say you were trying to swing something your hinge would be heavy on one side and light on the other would the face and hinge look different yes but the blanket statement of an uneven hinge is bad isn’t always true. Is the way he went about it right? Probably not but we’re not there so we’re back seat driving without seeing the situation from the beginning and even then there’s a few different way we could go about it.

Is a kicker what you call a wedge placed in the the undercut?

It’s an undercut it’s normally done in a situation where you do a narrow face, sometimes you can snipe the butt of the log to get the same effect.

Just cut this 20" maple today. 24" bar on my 6421. I've been playing with my new grinder and think I figured it out. Saw cut darn good!
