Everyone be careful out there. This was a good friend of mine, and I fixed his saws. He was always meticulous and careful, but he died (way too early) when one of the supports on his bucket truck hit a soft spot and went over.

Definitely bad news. Sorry you lost a good friend. We've had a lot of rain in our area this year and so have a lot of other part of the country, the ground is very soft here. Good time to double check things, double up, and use oversize pads too. Cranes and lifts. Also keep a eye on rigging and safety equipment, no amount of money to replace a strap, chain, rope, harness, etc is worth a life. Make sure everyone knows to keep an eye on things too. Watching for hydraulic leaks, sinking outriggers, bad rigging and suck. Dangerous jobs aren't a place for dumb fuks or ass clowns! It's very easy to get distracted while working up in the air and down below. Everybody depends on everybody else to go home at the end of the day. It sucks but hopefully posting bad stuff like this can help save someone's life in the future and some positive can come from a unfortunate accident. Safety first and stay safe!
Sorry for the little safety lecture or insinuating he did anything wrong, don't want to distract from your friends terrible death, I just want everyone to come home safe. I pray for you and his family to get through this time of mourning and hardship.

I coulda used a pine cone. Probably coulda yanked it with the big rope, but didn’t want to risk sending anything back at the house. What I should have done is been in 2nd low with the clutch in and dumped the clutch once the winch broke it loose. *root balls are not hinge wood.

It was unbelievably difficult to drag that stump out of there and away. Heavy with mud….truck weighs 13k and it was slipping or doing wheelies. Barely got it.

@afleetcommand sorry I didn't get much vid of the truck.

Did you salvage that last little bit of drinking water in the southwest?

Knocked down three decent ash this weekend. Neighbor is going to take out a bunch of trees in the pasture next to me, told me to cut whatever I wanted. There's a few more a may get at a later date.

Almost got myself in trouble with the heavy leaner. Got a little ahead of myself and separated the two first then I got greedy with the face cut and almost pinched my saw. The weight came on a lot faster than I anticipated. I pulled back then bored in where I had split the two and it didn't take much for the weight of the tree to take over.
