Just picked these up for $30 total. All of my 18v nicad batteries have moved on to the great beyond so had no working battery tools. I hated to purchase new nicads seeing the weight and function of lithion and definitely did not want to dump a few hundred in new tools so did some searching. I found 20v lithion to 18v plug converters. My mother gave me a dewalt 20v max that was all beat up along the road so had 1 battery. Long story short 75 bucks got me 2 converters, 20v charger and one 4mah battery. Here's the cool thing people are dumping 18v tool for cheap because of the batteries so can pick and choose any tool that I don't have for not really pennies - nickels on the dollar.

Today's snag is a pretty significant piece.
1. My first Jonsered
2. An undeniable signal that I have become a chainsaw collector, not just an engaged user...

I already have a 372, still don't heat with wood so why would I drive over 400km return ostensibly to collect this saw. I did purchase something on the journey that had a ridiculous freight cost that I avoided and in my mind subsidized the saw trip, but no mistake I went for the saw.

The kiwis on ope are going to laugh. @markds2 has been goading me into it, @raumati01 commented on the auction...

The vendor was a retired owner operator arborist, stricken now by Parkinson's. Lovely man, we could have talked for hours more than we already did. I respectfully asked if I could take a pic of his saw shrine making sure no record of his other treasure was shown.....

Anyway, came away with an 01 2171 in beautiful condition. Two 20" one 24" bars, ten Carlton chains and the original owners book. My first. $400USD, and a nice music filled drive but most of all some time spent with a very interesting character. Parkinson's is a very unfair thing to happen to a saw man.

I had a snag of my own today, picked up this really tidy 084 for the equivalent of $270USD and the 066 for $340. The guy reckoned the crank on the 084 was broken....... nope, it isn't..... but the flywheel key is sheared and the mains are very rumbly. It's the rarer HD Filter version too. Doesn't seem to be much wrong with the 066 either - compression is great!

Muffler is in the best shape I have ever seen an 084 muffler in:

@Kiwioilboiler btw be sure and let us know when you have so many saws cluttering up your workshop you spot one and think to yourself “ I don’t remember buying that”.

Wait till you open the trunk of your car and wonder "how long has that been there?"

we had an earthquake a few years ago late at night . The mrs was worried and was asking if there was anything we should check or do, five minutes later I got out of bed and went down to the garage. I came back to bed and she asked what I’d been doing and I told her that I’d put all my Mccullochs on the ground so they wouldn’t fall off the shelf if there was an aftershock.

I got the last laugh on that one, the silent treatment isn’t a punishment.
