Definitely a good power to weight ratio.

Sure a early 066 was better but to me I would rather have a strong 064 over a 460 any day of the week...now a 461 though is a different ball game.

Love my stock 461, I bought it cheap from a tree service and can't seem to kill it yet lol usually will run a 20 on it.

In some respects, the 064 even has an MS660 beat. Take the carb cover off and you will see what I mean. It's better engineered with better materials than either of the newer saws that replaced it. Mine is stronger than either a 460 or 461 by quite a margin.

Yes, it has no decomp valve to make it easier to pull start when cold. So, you need some muscle to start and use this saw. However, it delivers the same power as an 066 and does it with a tad less weight. A keeper in my book and worth no less than $550. I would never sell mine for less than that, especially when a 460 goes for at least that or more.

And wood doctor stated it ways same as 460 and will kick its ass.i just turned a guy onto the 064 and he was a die hard 460 fan.i just laughed and said i told you so.its also the lighest power to weight ratio saw ever made im building a 064 066 hybrid now and allready own a stock 064 i will never part with either.keep it and your 044 and you will have 2 best saws stihl ever made imo. i wish stihl hadnt stopped making them.even if you did sell it i doubt you will find one as clean.you will regret it

Yeah, you've got a good point there Cracker.

I'm starting to think about maybe sometime doing it up really well. Like powder coat the casings, get better plastics, change out the bearings and seals. My wife and kids need to accept we need some proper presentation cases in the house for saws, and a whole lot less handbags, shoes, coats, and cooking accessories..... :)

Ryan have you ran a 064/066? I like the 661 too and the 064/066 is the closet carb saw Ive ran thats strong and smooth like a 661 but I do like both. I do like the self adjusting of the mtronics

U didnt think they were smooth and fast? Were they 064/066 or just 064?

I'll take the 461 i have that brad ported and any 064 you have and strap them with 28"-32" bars and work chains and go kill some trees and see the difference.

There isn't one.

Sorry..im doing that reality thing again...carry on.
