Got that has this available, hasn't a clue...other than it been down about 3 yrs.
Any ideas from you studs?

I would say that it is all white oak. The dark stain on the one log is probably mildew. If you look at all of the ends you will see it has that same dark shade throughout just not as dark. I have had wood do that when cut at certain times of the year on oaks and other species.

Not sure , maybe hickory or walnut maybe a maple (silver). Oak usually absorbs all the moisture and starts to rot shortly . Cut and tell us what it smells like , as stated earlier. Its definitely firewood for heat .

It came from a city of 50,000 ppl. They are taking a lot of trees down because emerald ash bore. And once a tree gets byond 20” diameter they usually will cut it down because the roots start living the sidewalk. So if they whole block is ash except one or two. They will bring them down also and clean the whole block.
