Nope. Not even close. I currently reside in Utah. Prior to that, I had a solid forty year run in Northern California.

I've seen chain make a 30% gain. With a good port job? I wouldn't say that's not obtainable.

A couple years ago I would have said 30% is good for a port job. But there is better than 30% results and with a good square chain? Add another 30%.

I know a man that can file a chain on a stock saw that will outrun most with a good woods port and new out of the box chain.

All in the port work and chain game!

Okay, but would you say a muffler mod, and chain negates the need for woods porting?

If you are only looking for 30% ? Yes.

If you only get 30% after porting and you have a good chain game? Then you suck at filing or spent to much on port work.

Do the math on these 2 vids. Same chain.. Just a muff mod. Same tune. Sounds different, but both were at 13,000rpm. Someone smarter than me figure the percentage. ;) That's not a better chain. So slap a good filed chain on there.

Muff mod

So what if someone were to make boastful claims on the forums of 45% gains, yet all video evidence shows substantially less?

Then they should take a video of that saw boasting the 45%..

I just posted 2 videos taken 5 minutes apart. I just swapped stock muffler for a very generous muff mod and made sure it was still spinning 13k.

Pretty good numbers for a muff mod. Add a Good port job, and a good chain? Add a Great port job and well.... You should see well over 45%.

This is the wrong place for all this banter ;) . I just noticed the title when I posted. Thought it was another thread. Sorry for the derail :)

Pshh! It's all good. You know how much I appreciate a thread derail, Kenis.
