Don't hesitate, if she is in good running condition just get her! :beer-toast1:

I may or may not have a possibly somewhat special 112, looks like a good design.

It's missing the brake flag, felling spikes, needs the carb rebuilt and has 125# of compression. It also look rough. He's asking 150 for it.

Thanks for the information.

It does have the plastic gas tank which are much nicer than the metal ones. Has the 2 piece top air filter cover and if it still has 125lbs of compression probably just needs rings. I think the black and white was already talked about in this thread some where it was a limited edition of some sorts

Some brewery/alcohol promotion I think!

I know alcohol and chainsaws work well together, from experience.

Even though used 112 parts are plenty around, 150$ seems high with said issues.

I got a complete running 112 for 50€.
Just saying.

White units are around, silver ones not so much.
At least in Germany it's the opposite (at my impression): The silver ones are more common than the black&white ones.
The former was meant to be sold via warehouses, department stores and such as opposed to the regular orange variants which were sold thru Dolmar dealership. The silver ones were available for several years.
The black&white was a special series only produced during a small period in 1986 for a onetime marketing campaign.

Thank you for the information Henry. If they were only built for one year there can't be a whole lot left out there.

PS-350: just a smaller cc PS-420
_20241002_005330~2.png

PS-460 : same size & weight as PS-500, heavier than PS-5105, less cc's than either - mine has either a unlimited or a funky defective coil and turns 15+k rpm - with .325" chain a great limbing saw

PS-510: I believe is a PS-500 for the US market, same cc as PS-5105, less power (open port), heavier due to Al cases instead of Mg

Would you fix one vs the other? Picked up 4 scrap pile saws the other day 510 has a nice cylinder and piston but is missing some pieces and has a bad coil. 1 460 has light scoring bad coil, one 460 bad scoring good coil, 350 also has a bad coil. I have heard some nightmares about coils and cranks being keyed different and all sorts of goodies what am I about to get myself into lol

Coils for those units are about 65€, although red pre 2010 PS-460 coils are NLA.

Liking my own I'd definitely fix up a PS-460 from the two You have.
While doing so You could compare cylinders and see whether the PS-510 P&C would be a direct bolt on.

The PS-350 would be an easy fix just swapping out the coil for 70ish $.
You merely have to decide whether the saw is worth the investment to You.

Part out everything else.

460s have red coils but 1 is good. 510 is black and crank is definitely different. Seen anything about aftermarket coils for these saws?

I was able to get an aftermarket red coil for my 460 off Amazon about 2 years ago for less than $25. Not sure if they are still available but it has worked well so far
So do you just order them by color?

I did with that one, just searched for dolmar and saw a coil that looked about right and bought it. It was more good luck than anything else
From my own experience the aftermarket coils seem to only work on the non easystart saws. The oem coils have a different ignition internal setup and these are matched to the flywheel, so a coil from a easytart saw will not work on a non easystart saw and vice versa. When looking for coils there have been a few updates / upgrades making looking for early part numbers also a little troublesome. Again the colour depended on the upgrade as well just to make it more of a pain. Switching from easystart to non easystart makes getting coils simplr. The Chinese coils I used have been ok so far.
I really like the 3500/3501/4300 saws, especially the German built ones, inboard clutch, adj oiler, mag/ alloy crankcases, spring AV, remove any cats and the limiters and the always start and cut well. I try to use a slightly larger radius bar nose if possible as the low kickback small nose bars seem to pick up wood between the chain and bar and jam up or throw chains when used for limbing, brushing, hedging etc. The older 340-400 series are very light and run well after a simple muffler mod, lots around 9 at least in Europe) so no problem for parts saws, rubber AV but as a small saw don't vibrate much.

I have a non-assisted starter I'm going to put on a 5001. Sold as a kit by Makita. No mention of coil modifications. (181-160-170) Am I gonna run into trouble?

You shouldn't have issues as the coil stays paired to the flywheel.

Troubles arise when mixing coils & flywheels from assisted and non-assisted units.
