Dolmar PS-550 (Makita EA5600).

She is becoming my favorite sub 70cc saw.
I do not understand the lack of following for this saw.
I love her in most aspects.

Paired with a round ground full chisel Husqvarna X-Cut loop she is easily keeping up with her larger siblings the PS-6100 & PS-6400 in under 20" OD logs.

I'd love to pickup a teal one just to play around with it.
Mine received a MM after the internal baffle came apart, apparently they are notorious for doing that.
She was a torquey mid sized saw fully stock, the MM certainly gave her some more pep and she turns higher in cut rpm's now.

I wonder what gains a woods port would make!?

She is dead reliable on cold and hot starts!
So pleasing compared to the hot start issues her large frame siblings are plagued with.

That's why I'd love to find one to play with. I'm sure ported properly it will cut better than a stock 60cc class saw. And could tap on the door of a 70cc class saw.

Simple, it wasn't around long enough to get a following before Makita sent Dolmar to the gallows. I really like that saw and I bet it could have been very competitive.

She is nice, the PS-3400 is much more powerful & snappier though!
Sounds good! Thank you. I've been keeping my eye out for a teal 3400 series TH saw. Had a chance at a new one for under 400 usd, but passed due to funds at the moment.

She'd be worth that to me, I would have sold my right nut to buy her. :)

Don't get me wrong, the PS-311 is a nice saw, but to me she feels a bit underwhelming.
Although in all fairness, she is the smallest cc saw I own so I should expect her to be the weakest.

A while ago I have been rattling my boxes with spares and parts to see, if there were enough parts to assemble a complete SACHS-DOLMAR 110 Black&White. A year or two ago I had found the then-missing tank-handle-unit in white plastic and now time had come to do something with it.

This is the result:

Not the most beautiful of all 110b&w due to the heavy scratches on some parts and the white plastic having bilged.
But she runs well and just for fun I had her with me at a little bucking job a week or so ago where I had to cut some spruce trunks into rolls.

I was amazed how handy she proved to be. Starts extremely well (just a little lop out of my wrist and there she goes), has good torque and does everything well one would expect her to do. For an amateur user I'd say she is well suitable for daily use and I wouldn't claim this for every 38 years old saw!

Here she is together with my PS-3410 back-handle which she clearly outperformed as expected.

Context: In late 1986 SACHS-DOLMAR produced the 110, 108, 105 and 112 as a special edition called "Black & White" and did a marketing campaign together with the scotch whiskey of the same name.

It was worth it me as well. I was tight at the moment. I wonder how the 311 would respond to port job?

Beautiful saw Henry!! I like the black a white version.

Is she still a 110 inside? Or did you use a 111/115 P&C?

I think the white black & silver black units had different release occasions.
Though I never looked into it.

Henry will know details once he gets his morning coffee going.

White units are around, silver ones not so much.

I think there have also been yellow units made.

@old_sir_henry and @Wilhelm

How rare is the white Sachs Dolmar 112 saws? How about the Silver ones? Or is the white and silver just one in the same?

Thanks!
Don't hesitate, if she is in good running condition just get her! :beer-toast1:

I may or may not have a possibly somewhat special 112, looks like a good design.
