Ah ok...brain has now caught up.
After using the easystart for quite a time on my 6100 and others, I Personally am totally ok with them. A lot of people mention the saws being wider and heavier, very slightly heavier by a fraction, no wider as the front handle governs the total width. They all have been totally reliable for me. I think the problems arise from people drop starting the saws with vigour, which can damage them, but if used as intended they are fine. Are they necessary on a small saw? Probably not for most people. Owning many older and larger Dolmars and Makita's and a Husky 2100 I manage no problem without easystart, but as age is creeping up I do find myself liking the easystart more!!

It's just for looks on the 5001. I got a 5000 too that I will leave assisted. Once I figured out how to use the one on the 6100 I liked it more. I shouldn't need assist on a 50cc stocker for many years to come yet, I hope.

The easy start is crap on compression increased ported saws.

It feels as if it is going to break every time I start my XS5000 & MMWS6100!

First time using the new bar and S85 chain and I was very impressed. This timber was very dirty from sitting on the ground for I assume a few years, cut well till I was done, about a tank and a half. Eucalyptus timber, is very hard my splitter was just bouncing off it

Dolmar PS-550 doesn't miss a beat, again one tank of fuel worth, second tank on the X-Cut chain without touchup.

Cleared all rounds

Then made some more

I was always wanting one of those PS-221's , then I got my 36Volt Makita UC250D and she fit the spot under my PS-311TH & PS-3400TH perfectly.

I added another small Dolmar to my collection, a 1994 DOLMAR PS-33.
Although she was built more than two years after Makita acquired Dolmar, she still is an old-style model
very similar to her predecessor SACHS-DOLMAR 100 and shares the old style chain-brake, tank-handle-unit with straight wrap-handle support and this ridiculously slim wrap-handle.
Positioned as an entry-level model she's missing the spike-bar but comes with a proportionally adjustable oil pump rather the two-stop-typ found with the 100 S or the fixed one found in later and more expensive models.
She's not a real beauty and nothing to write home about but she fills a gap in my collection and she was cheap.

Nice. Is it weird out of all the saws I have/had one of the ones I miss running the most was a muffler modded 421? Hahaha
Not weird if You found a liking for her!

I haven't ran my EA4300 at least a year.
I keep grabbing my freak PS-460!
