I was thinking just the opposite . some of the stuff Stihl and Husqvarna pump out is the reason other companies are worth looking at.

I think this maybe why I have Homelites and a Solo. Every where I go all I see is STIHL and Husky. Actually I see more husky than STIHL... Plastic.

When I was looking for my 60cc saw the plastic handle of the stihl 362 sent me on my search. that and the $850 price tag.

Anybody else notice the ea 5600 fr on that list? I still want to see this saw. I am thanking 421 but 56cc could be a neat saw. especially for us firewood hacks.

I'm not sure how much the price increases, but I'd really love a saw with heated handlebars. Something like the 5105 would be super awesome. I know Stihl makes arctic versions of some models, but I've never even seen one. Our dealer certainly doesn't carry them. And it's cold as chit for five months of the year where I live.

I really like my heated handle Stihls for fall and winter cutting, 026 and MS 440 Artics.

I got a slightly used 6100 from a former Dolmar dealer not far from me and was glad to find that .
It's too bad it went that way because a it's hard to find a dealer now locally if you need parts , most have dropped out since Makita took over .

Echo has sparked my interest much more lately , more dealers available and parts seem easy to get as well .
Prices are beating the others by a fair bit as well as Echo making a decent product .

Makita has owned Dolmar for 25 years. This is a rebranding / marketing thing, but it could affect dealer relationships, just as with Jonsered and Husqvarna.
