I think I paid like 28 at Ace hardware for my 180 carburetor, still a very reasonable price. It fixed all the problems that I bought with that saw(actually runs slightly rich now) .

Too many other things today. I will see about replacing the spark plug wire but I don't think that is the issue, seems to be fuel related.

Any chance it could be tank venting? I dont know if that one had a grub screw or what, just throwing out options.

The tank vent didn't have anything in it but I did push in a screw just to stem the leaking a bit. I tried some additional running and adjusting of the carburetor and it seemed to be O.K. now. I sent it along with owner with the understanding if there were any issues he should bring it back. He is a good guy and will work with me if there are any ongoing problems.

I did go through the box of parts from Lehman Live Edge Slabber and got everything cleaned up. I decided to put one saw together to have in the museum.

The avp 012 must have been popular in the South, I see alot of them and have 2 in the shed.
The owner of the local saw shop says they were an excellent little saw back in their day.

The 012 is the same size engine as an 025/ms250 of I remember right 45cc instead of the 010-011 displacement of 40-41cc

Oak that fell last year, sq chisel skip, 7 pin rim.
Over all for the 3rd tank of mix I'm pretty impressed with the power, it sips fuel compared to other 70cc saws I own though so I had to do a lot of cutting to get there.
The oiler is pitiful, I'll be modifying another one for any longer bar.
The way it worked out with the aftermarket cylinder was that the squish is right at .020 without the gasket, but its got ALOT of compression which might be due to the larger bore.
I took the pop up 036 along with me and ran a tank through it also and just super pleased with the way a little 61cc saw runs.

066 flat top tank handle. I want to replace the tank handle on my 066 flat top and I see alot of them online for ms660 / 066. Will these new tank handles fit the flat top? A little modification i dont mind doing. Thanks, Kevin

1122-350-0826 is a current part number that shows 066 compatibility with the most recent previous part number being 1122-350-0817.

That said, 1122-350-0827 is also a current part number that shows 066 compatibility, but does also list the 064 and MS640. Previous part numbers there include 1122-350-0800, 0801, 0809, and 0816.

I'd guess the latter (0827) would be what you're looking for just from the 064 reference alone, though don't know exactly what the differences would be from the 0817 / 0826 tanks. Could be as simple as the tank vent or something more involved like the intake bulkhead arrangement. If you're lucky you can still make out the part number of your tank for cross reference and go from there.

I have a local friend with a TS760 cut off saw. He doesn't really need the cut off saw anymore and would be interested in putting it into service as a chainsaw. Does anyone have a used up 076 they would be willing to part with in order to utilize his good cylinder & piston, etc.

As mentioned above you're at least going to have to swap out the airbox and filter base as they are completely different:

Duh. That completely slipped my mind, but should only apply with the 0817 / 0826 tank. The 0816 / 0827 tank should work given the earlier filter base.

Also, the part number found on the tank itself may not match the part number for ordering. The number on my very early flat top w/o decomp (and another slightly later one w/decomp) both have 1122-791-1000 part numbers on the bottoms of the handle. Both have the earlier filter base which was used until serial number X 39 176 185.

That may be a tall order. Parts are pretty valuable these days. That said, some of the chop saw cases can actually be fitted with an oil pump. I don't recall the specifics at the moment. This thread over at AS has it covered somewhere in the mix. That number on the bottom of the handle is a Stihl reference number and isn't even the actual part number for parts ordering. Both of my flat tops have that same number which appears to correspond to the earlier 0816 / 0827 tanks with the earlier air filter base.

Not going to be easy finding one cheap and probably not available as aftermarket. May need to go with the 0817 and swap out the intake/filter base stuff just for economic reasons alone.
