Ya may want to do a vac/pressure test (if you haven't already) to make sure a crank seal leak isn't what scored it up in the first place.
They're notorious for that (as you may already know).

It sure did clean up nice. What sort of initial 'dip' did it get?

I had an 034 I put an 036 top end on with a Meteor piston .I traded it for a Mac 805 . That 034/036 last I heard after at least 10 - 12 years is still earning it's keep .I landed an 034 super which when I get the time will get the "treatment " .Nice mid sized saws .The 034 super for those who do not know is in effect an 036 .

And the 034 had better port timing.

Field strip the carcass. Dig out the saw cake with an old steak knife and stiff brush. Scrub with mineral spirits using a heavy duty parts brush. Give it a couple coats of O’Reilleys foaming engine degreaser. Shoot it into the cavitys. Hose it off with hot water from the laundry room. Mind the muffler outlet! Let it air dry in the sun.

It is important to either finish disassembly or get it running to avoid moisture damage.

Got to try out the 036. We only cut pine here so kinda soft. Was fun though :)
Actually like the quickstop feature. Saw was kinda heavy for the limbing so my 55 with a 13" bar got to do that instead

Thats the first time I've heard someone say the 036 was heavy, are you ok?

They are. 18" bars are considered longer than needed.
Ok so I watched a few logging and arborist in Sweden who post YouTube videos. What your saying makes sense now ,but I see the technique for cutting is a rotating plunge cut for the back cut and double cutting the face notch on even a 30" tree .

Hell, that's old school, Carl! I was expecting some newfangled magical chemical pressure washer dunk tank treatment or something.

Good for you, brother. Looks great.

Washed the gingerbread parts in mineral spirits.

Whitewall tire cleaner works good on a sap covered clutch cover.

I just spray them down with the green can of brake kleen, and use a fast orange type product on the plastics so they don't dull.

Real good looking saw though, good job. My 036 is slowly becoming my favorite saw to use in my day to day. Used to be my 044 but since I moved to Colorado from Washington I'm finding it a bit more than is needed.
