The DCS7901 muffler will be lighter than the stihl muffler. Plus it'll look a lot better!

If you gut your oem muffler you will loose a lot of weight.

While your in it this far you might as well pull the crank seals and inspect the bearings. Then throw new seals in if the bearings look good.

Welcome to the club!!

Gut the OEM muffler, open up the factory exhaust outlet - You'll have an awesome sounding screamer!
From what I saw, you've gotta use MAP gas to heat up and uncrimp the lip? I don't think I've got the welding chops to tack it all back together if it's gotta be cut apart...

Does the DCS6400 feature a Stainless Steel muffler in the US?
Hold a magnet to it, it is not SS if the magnet holds on good.

Either way, You "can" uncrimp even the SS muffler cold - it is harder to do but it is possible.
I did my PS-7310 SLR muffler cold.

If it is a regular alloyed steel muffler body uncrimping is fairly easy cold - I did my PS-7900 muffler cold.

Also, there are members here that offer muffler modding for a price.

The DCS6401 has on aluminized steel muffler just like the DCS7901.

The DCS6421 has the new fangled heavy stainless muffler.

Ah! That plier pic is a helpful visual.

Mine is the 6421, with stainless muffler. Certainly feels overweight...Is that the style with the cat converter? Guess I'll find out when it's peeled open

Yours is the cat muffler. There’s damn near enough to make another muffler inside that thing. Gut it all out of there

Here's that aliexpress foam air filter, atop a Redbeard 2" stack. Sadly doesn't quite fit the top cover in it's current state, but I'm considering shaving it down. Might shop around for another 2" filter that has an offset inlet, pushing the filter closer to the engine.

Doubt I'd hack up my top cover though, until this filter is properly vetted thru some testing.

Last year I was able to fill another gap in my collection: The missing DOLMAR CA Mk 2, the one with rigid but rubber covered rear handle.

This is her:

Now I have all three variants: Rigid handle painted metal, rigid handle rubber covered and AV-handle.
Gonna make photos of them three together when the weather will be better.

Not that exciting, but a log I cut back with my 4300, my car wouldn't fit through the gap so I cut another two rounds off the RHS. Had a Holzfforma G660 with us which wouldn't start, so the little Makita had to step in, got it done easily with a cut from each side.

Another classic Dolmar I found recently:
Very early Sachs-Dolmar 119, built late 1976 or early 1977. Other than the regular 119, this saw is without chain brake and has a pointed ignition.
She is in extraordinarily good shape, given she's at least 48 years old.
I'm very pleased having found such a pretty saw.

Got the good news from SLE, that there was no price change on my 7900 piston/cylinder kit, as well as clutch cover/tensioner, and they've shipped out!

In the meantime, I found 2x blue 5100's from the UK, that're on their way to me. These two aren't fully complete, and I have no idea of the condition of the piston/cylinder, so it was a bit of a dice roll of what's under the hood... Fingers crossed! They're mostly just missing tensioners, clutch drums, clutch covers, and flywheel covers. Hoping someone just snagged easy parts off of saws that weren't blown up
