That is the way it should be. Push down with the pad of your thumb is the most sensible, user friendly and ergonomic. All my saws shut off (kill) by pushing down with my thumb.
Being I'm one o them stihl boys mine go down to start. This does make sense just backwards for me. [emoji12]

Question for the guys with more knowledge than me: Does the 6400 13,500rpm coil fit right onto the 7910? I assume it will, as the 7910 p/c bolts right onto the 6400, and is plug and play. Is there any benefit in doing so, or is the 12,800 good enough? The 7900 has 13,500 and it seems a lot of people were disappointed when the 7910 showed up with a lower max rpm. I have my 7910 set at 12,600 at the moment, and it seems fine. 4 strokes at wot and cleans up in the cut, but there's always the question of getting a little more out of it. I might be overthinking it, so feel free to tell me so.

Thanks.

yes it will but it's a question of how you run your saw. Do you run a short bar with less load and hit higher rpms and ping off the limiter? or do you run a 28-32" bar tuned to pull at 10.5-11K? I personally tune my saws a little fat in the 10.5-11K range and let them eat. If you have the 12,8k rpm limiter it's harder to tune WOT without being in the wood but that's how you tune a saw properly anyhow. Only guys that port saws, and/or tune carbs without being in the wood should complain about a 12.8K limiter.

Just 2 cents from someone who don't know nothin bout dolmer's

I hear what you're saying. I run 20"-28" bars on mine, and I'm fairly cautious with how I use/abuse my equipment. No pinging off limiters. Wot is at 12,600.
I'll do a muffler mod and re-tune, then leave it alone.
Do you look for 10.5-11k in the wood?

OK, its a very small tree! But its a very small saw too :) The fence is 6', so the tree is about 14'. The tree is a Callistemon, so the wood isn't soft. The little 22cc Makita/Dolmar did the job on its own :D

Anyone (other than Andrew :)) got the 5105 CX ? the important bit is the " CX " standard starter , slimmer profile starter ,not the easy start pull start.

I have not seen these. Any pictures?
Not found a side by side comparison pic or one of the saw without the non easy start side on it other than this one that says its of the CX . But...in the German catalogue it is listed . Best i can do with a pic of the catalogue.

I like the easy start once I got accustomed to it, but understand the non easy is slimmer. I dont think they can be interchanged as flywheel are different.

I think its flywheel and crank ! ...don't mind the easy start myself as I have a ps 420 sc (421 ) just thought i would try the slimline ps 5105 instead. Only Andrew (AJS chainsaws) has one that i know of and he has one coming from Dolmar for me.
