This is a pic of the 111 starter innards ...1 yr only as it was replaced with the more conventional starter pawl on the orange and black saws. The toothed ring flings out and picks up on View attachment 28892 the teeth cast into the flywheel.
They lost there leading edges V fast and skipped when you pulled so i understand ..hence 1 year and then gone on the 111. Managed to save the one in the pic with a little filling but the freshest one is on the user saw (have a spare orange 111).

I don't know if any of the US 420's got the matt top. All the 421's I've seen are the flat black.
That's interesting I like the shiny top , also the shiny fleck black tops on the 6100

Another pesty question to the knowledgeable about the 3410TH. When it sets up for a few days it take quite a few choked pulls to get it to fire. Once started it's a one pull restart. Does it lose its prime? And is is there a cause or cure?

How much is a custom piston going to cost?

For oversize 166 piston,
Approx price that have come up with is $180 USD each, min order of 10.

That's pricey, Mind if i ask who the manufacturer is.

Yes it is (then again paid same amount for solo 603 piston).

Nothing set in stone. As piston is forged (would preffer cast/cnc frim billet). Still looking at others options. Company is sps.

That primmer bulb is working ok I take it ? My 420 needs fuel pulling through from being sat for a bit. Most bulb purge systems i have used seem about the same if sat but compared to the saws i have without they fire with much fewer pulls.

It's not cracked or anything. Draws fuel up into itself readily. My 420 that's never been an issue. Three crank max usually after setting up a while.

I find the same with my 420 as long as i prime it 3-4 pushes the first time in the day...then it fires on the 2nd or 3rd.
Have you been in the carb yet ? was wondering if the non return valve in the bulb was not so hot.

Nope . The kits are here. I was waiting for the rings from the Greek. I was going to do the scored one first for practice since this one is a runner.

You going to get some yellow covers for it so it blends in with the décor?

To be fair, I ran four or five tanks through my 7-10, only pulled out the 7900 when the stuff got over my 20" bar on the 7-10 but wow, the 7900 is a sweet saw.

I have become a more equal opportunity guy lately as I also ran a couple of lime green saws during the week. Once I finish this particular job I will be done gathering firewood for the year as my pile will be filled to capacity.

Finally got a load of logs dropped off in my driveway. Got to take out the 5105 and the 7910 for the first time. The 5105 is a great saw! I was surprised by the power it has. The 7910 was nice too, as expected. I have more sawin' to do tonight.
