Thanks for that it makes sense now it’s been pretty difficult all summer to get
Saws and the big saws have been basicly unavailable for months now

I guess it was inevitable. The Makita sales rep at the 2019 NY GTG said that they were working on large forestry saws and had a 80cc or 90cc battery powered equivalent that was in development and was waiting for R&D to come up with a suitable battery.

They were following California's upcoming OPE gas engine ban and knew that two of their big sales states would likely follow suit.

I suspect they will be adding charger stations in the appropriate timber stands.

You can soup up electric engines.

Quite a shock to all of us that like the little gas engines.

Especially for @Wilhelm and to combat the bad news of past weekend. The 9010 had a go at the locust log. Wanted to make a few cuts with the 9010 and a few with the 2188, but the 9010 performed so well I cut all of it. Never once hesitated and kept on pulling like a freighttrain with the 36". Had to wear its blue jacket as it is quite windy today.

Gotta give 'em credit for being honest here, since Makita has pretty much zero presence in OPE around here anyway!

That might be a little narrow of a view. Probably true, Makita's market share (including all brands)
in OPE has apparently been minimal in North America, that is not that extreme in other markets.

There is not only Dolmar as a supplier of 2-stroke driven products but also Robin, bought by
Makita years ago, and being a technology leader in small 4-stroke power tools.
I wonder how this fits into Makita's strategy?
There are numerous examples of wrong management
decisions all over history and I wonder if this one will align itself into that queue
