420.Poor thing's sick. Running along just fine and the idle started climbing all by its lonesome. It's got quite a few hours on it. I suspect crank seals.
Maybe, Or....fuel starvation , carb issues ....Iv had this

new carb 1st you ain’t killing it off yet

Mine is a true North American 420. Fairly early not a 421. I have had fuel line issues before do to ethanol. Upgraded the lines with the factory Dolmar eth resistant line and use only non ethanol"rec" gas now.
So what manner of carb issue are we talking about here?

The usual....blockage, pump diaphragm baggy + metering past its use by date. There should be a check valve (factory instal) on the L side as its a carb used in a purge system (often shows as poor prime on the bulb) , basically anything that can give fuel starvation . Has your saw a Walbro on it being a early one or the C1Q Zamma ?
A vac /pressure test may just prove my hunch wrong .

I have this 24" large Dolmar mount Dolmar branded hard nose bar that takes 90DL in .325" and 80DL in 3/8" - how many DL do I need in .404"? o_O
I tried calculating loop length and came up with 72-74DL.

Do not compare Oregon and Carlton 24" D009 mount bars to this one as it is actually shorter.
My 84DL 3/8" chain is too long for my large Dolmar mount bar.

I want to have chains in each pitch for this bar for play, possibly try larger sprockets for fun. ;)

Poop, 9T .325" sprocket will not fit a 90DL .325" loop on this Dolmar bar of mine, I will have to get a DL added to the loop.

I'll try and get 3/8" & .404" loops this week.
