I'll check mine out more this weekend and let you know on the oiler. Yes my whole handle us plastic. If I recall, the 166 handles fit.Sawfun , Does Yours have the manual oiler and I noticed that the bottom handle is all Plastic? Mine looks a little different and I do now have the correct choke lever for it.
Sounds good can't wait to get it running.I have one in Craftsman colors. No anti vibe but I didn't find it vibrated too badly. I like it.
It seems to have decent power and it's pretty light weight for an older saw.
I would like to get my hands on a 245A if one comes up for sale near to me.
I will look into that for sure thank you. I just ordered a carb kit, fuel tank gasket, fuel filter, and flywheel key. Picking up fuel line from my dealer this week and this ole girl will be ready to fire up. I was shocked I could still find the tank gasket without a problem.I concur with Tim.
I might add, the dust seal can deteriorate between the crankcase and reed/manifold that seals the carb box. If it does, air will bypass the filter. Something worth checking and replacing if necessary.
I arrived at work this morning this was setting in my office.

EEK, gads Mark what, are you into green saws now or is that one just envious, as it should be, of all the yellow saws . You do know that if you must have a Poulan saw, they came in yellow, the respectable color .

I talked to a fellow yesterday and he seems to have a lot of Poulan NOS and obsolete parts.
His name is Buford Parrish.

Thank, I put a new topend on the 505. I then made a cut in 30" white oak to test it. Wow it has torque and speed and pulled that 32" bar much better than the 850 pulled it's 32" bar. And the 850 ain't no slouch either, however I could lean on the 505 noticeably harder.Wow,are those nice looking saws.
