Thank, I put a new topend on the 505. I then made a cut in 30" white oak to test it. Wow it has torque and speed and pulled that 32" bar much better than the 850 pulled it's 32" bar. And the 850 ain't no slouch either, however I could lean on the 505 noticeably harder.

The 475 will be getting a finger ported jug that came with the 505. We shall see at the gtg how those two fair against each other and some strong 5200's.

If you haven't looked yet make sure you don't have the green coils in those two saws, if so change them to a Husky 55 black coil.

Ok thanks, I'll look. I assume the green are limited and the black are not?

I did find out the green coils in the 445 are not limited though.

The 475 and 505 was like said above. The 415 425 of mine came with black coils.

The partner 500 5000, jred 490 590,poulan 325 coils slide in these too. One of the 505 I sent away to a better place has a partner 5000 coil in it.

These are the runners. Have at least this many more on the shelves needing rebuilt too.

Did I hear once that rings from a 475 will fit a 4000? I know 7700 rings can be cut down

4000 is a thin ring. 475 is a 1.5mm thick ring and thinking 52mm bore

Be better to start with a 50mm ring IMO to trim down and 4000 ring is about .55mm thick

Since I run short bars on the 415. I found the extra small dawg for it.

Small compared to extra small. There is the large ones like shown above too on sawfun saws.

Don - we should have compared my SP81 against your 505, my 81 was much stronger than your 850 last weekend.

My contribution to the Poulan thread; a 3700 was a gift from Modified Mark (no photos right now), 5400 came from Sheldon (torinocobra).

Mark, i meant to compare the 505 to the 5400 to see if the 505 stood up to its predecessor. That particular 850, while clean, seemed weak. But that 505 would walk away hard on a good 850. I am pretty sure it will put your sp81 away with 32" bars. Yes, those are fight'n words :D. It is very strong, way more than the good running stock 475 Nate got from me, and that saw was nice. He has a nicely ported cylinder for that 475 so maybe next year we can run against each other and see if that changes.
