I have actually seen an increase in availability and a decrease in prices locally in the Northeast compared to 1 or 2 years ago. Also interesting and exciting finds...like clean 372xp's. Things were way way cheaper and deals were more abundant 10 years ago compared to now but I think things have definitely improved since peak covid when new saws and everything else were super scarce. A lot has shifted from craigslist to FB marketplace. Things also seem to go faster. When you see a good deal you have to move on it. Fast.

Where do you guys find your used saws worth purchasing, for a good price?
Not sure if your local dump allows picking, but at mine within a two week period, I was able to pick up a Husky 272 XPG w/28" bar, Stihl 046 w/25" bar and full wrap and five little Poulan type saws. All of the small ones just needed fresh gas and ran fine, been giving these away to friends. The 046 needed new rings, now runs great. The 272 had a bar oil leak from the case, gave me the chance to split my first saw. Waiting on a couple of fine thread AV bushings and it will go back together. A couple of weeks ago I found a partial Husky 2100cd that had a broken rear handle...slowly working on getting that one back together.

I have trash pickup at the house, but when dropping the trash off at the dump gives me the opportunity to scout for a chainsaw...I will go to the dump...lol.

Always figured what does it matter what people ask for their items. It's theirs and can ask whatever they want, it;s on the buyer if he wants it or not. I have a 2006 GMC dirtymax I would be willing to sell for $40,000, any takers? I didn't think so, not upset at all.

Those 10-10 McCulloch's were worth picking and reselling to someone else.

Prices I pay are in direct correlation to my laziness. If I'm not willing to put in the time and effort to talk to a junkman, retired saw shop owner,or just the guy down the street then I'm gonna pay! Networking and foot work payoff. Be patient with people and polite, then the people who are asking crazy prices can go to rot.
