The last I talked with Bob was a little over 2 weeks ago.He told me he thought he had a buyer for his McCulloch parts.I don't know what ever became of that.I was supposed to buy a truckload of Homelite parts, but that never materialized either.Buford Parrish in Ky.has been worried about Bob too, they used to talk most every day..

My son & I got some Mac time in today.I took a Stihl 017 for limbing & the oiler didn't want to work.My son had a Husky 41 for limbing & it lost a muffler bolt. The PM55 saved the day.It felled the tree & bucked up the major portion of the tree. Here's my son cutting with the PM55.The tree was a pine that was planted in the 40's & was dead. The base was about 30 in.across & the 55 had a 20 in.bar & chain on it.It ate through that pine like a hot knifethumbnail.jpg through butter.

Bob Johnson update:I just got off the phone with his long time lady-friend (Joan) & he suffered a massive heart attack around Memorial Day.The drs.are having trouble with his blood clotting & are trying to get that under control before they can send him to the cath lab for a catherization to find out the extent of the damage to his heart. He also has a very high white blood cell count. The way Joan was talking, she was not expecting him to make it out of the hospital.
I've only known Bob for 4 1/2 yrs.,but feel like I've known him much longer than that.I ask everyone to keep him in your prayers & thoughts.

Sorry to hear that - Bob is a good old boy and has been a fixture of the Mac community for a long time.

I had to connect the dots until I realized over the years I too had bought some parts from him .A number of years ago by way of flea bay I got the big fat black book of McCulloch IPL's evidently his daughter made available .As I recall several copies of that were available and I bought the first one and thus paid the most money for it .McBob bought a bunch of stuff .
As it worked out a number of us copied and sent those IPL's to Mike Acres in hopes of creating a repository for as many saws we could find .Whatever happened with that I do not know but evidently Stihl complained about it and that ended it for that brand .What they failed to realize many of us already had those IPL's .What was comical i
s this was in a period of time the internet did not have the speed it does today .Some of those files were so large they would take 15 minutes to down load on the other end .

To my knowledge Bob J.has no children. When you are referring to "Bob's daughter",,you're in fact referring to his long time lady-friend of 30+ yrs.I refer to her as "Miss Joan".Bob J.has never sold a thing on flea bay.

Back almost 10 yrs.ago my Russian buddy asked me to help him take down a monster maple that he was afraid would fall on his house. My friend is a very frugal guy who doesn't spend money unless he has to.He got a lift from his nephew & we proceeded to start hacking away at this monster maple. We got it down to where I didn't have a saw big enough to take down the main trunk & it sat there like a giant monument on his front lawn till last yr.He cut all the way around it,sorta like girdling the tree & let it sit for a few yrs.,then ;last yr.he hooked his truck on it & toppled it.I told him last yr.that I had the saw big enough now,an SP125 with a 36 in.bar on it.Back in 2013 the biggest saw I had was my Timber Bear with a 20 in.bar.I started on it 2 weeks ago & had problems with the chain on the 125,so had to quit.Today I took the 125 with a new chain on it & my PM55 to do some cutting as well.I cut several rounds with the 125,then cut the rounds into 1/8th pieces so they'd be easy to handle.I've never seen a maple as big as this monster. It's higher laying on the ground than I am tall (5'9").Here's the result of today's work.I'm having trouble keeping the chain tight on the 125 & my friend was a bit on the tired side today because he got up at 3:30 to go to work for overtime. To get an idea of the size of this tree I have my 125 sitting in front of the main trunk of what's left of the tree.(2nd pic)thumbnail.jpg thumbnail.jpg

Looking at the stump/trunk makes me think of this.

Back a couple of pages (post #8091) I showed some photos of the 3 piece sawdust screen I'd been working on for the older CP70L and early 7-10 models.

With the accidental success of printing the square grids in a vertical orientation I asked my Engineer friend to redraw the later 10 Series screens with the same square grid pattern. The results are not bad.

3D in front on an older 10 Series cover, OEM screen in back on a PM800 cover.

With the starter cover assembled these are really solid.

I guess I'll have to discount the earlier versions to make way for the latest square grid version.

There was another older dealer in up state NY I can't remember the name of .The town name ended in ----ville .I think the two older guys retired because I can't find it on the net .I wonder whatever became of the old stock .Years ago I bought some stuff from them . Then there is Randys engine service in Seamans Ohio that still has some new old stock .Mike Acres most likely has some as well in Burnaby BC Canada which is where I got the parts for the 125 I resleeved some years back and have as yet to put enough run time on it to seat the piston rings .In this part of the country it's hard to find any wood large enough to dragging out a big old Clydesdale of a chainsaw to make a few cuts .

Yes and it was taped to the inside cover of my book of IPL's when I received it .
Just because the card was taped to an IPL you bought on eBay doesn't mean that Bob J.sold it on eBay.Most likely the person who sold it on eBay got it from Bob & didn't bother removing the business card.Bob didn't have a computer to do any sales on eBay.He was definitely old school. He had his lady friend put his inventory on a flash drive & that's as close to a computer he ever got. There was one exception & that was about 18 months ago.He told me that his niece gave him her old computer & Miss Joan hooked it up for him to scroll on eBay to see the size of the balls (as he put it) of the sellers who had saw parts.I assure you Al.Bob NEVER sold anything himself on eBay.
