Hoping to get some input from folks here. I'm going to end up letting go of my SP81 and my CP70 and was wondering what they are fetching for prices these days. The SP81 runs and cuts great and still looks pretty good too. I've done a little work to it but it didn't need much. The CP70 is a different story. I was told it was rebuilt my a member here but didn't get much history on it. I haven't done any work on it and it's pretty much sat since I bought it other than some test cuts I made. Compression on it isnt real good and now since its sat for almost 2 years its not wanting to stay running. Suffice to say it needs gone through.

I rebuilt that CP-70 about 10 years ago! New rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, intake boot, the works. I'm sure it's due to be gone through like you said. It sat here forever until I sold it to Mike. It sat forever there till he sold it to you. I guess you kept the sitting legacy alive too. Lol!!!

Thanks Steve, and yeah I definitely did. Anytime I wanted to go cut with a Mac I brought the sp81. Looking back I probably didn't need to buy the cp70. Which is also why I want to rehome it so it doesn't continue to sit. It sure looks nice on display though!

Why don't you just ask for what you paid on the 70 since you never cut with it.
The 81 is who knows ? Anymore. People pay crazy prices ( or ask for them anyway) on the 82cc saws.

I traded a strong pro mac 10-10 for a years worth of eggs from a homesteader this year! So your probably looking at a college tuition there! Lol

Right! I should have held on to all my Mac's another few years so I could have retired!

eBay probably would be the best place to get top dollar. Even with the high selling fees you'll get more than selling here I'm sure.

Can one of you fine gentlemen please tell me if these carb diaphragms are the correct ones and in correct order?

Seems to be an SDC 37. Made 12 of 1971?

Solid black diaphragm against the carb body.
Teflon diaphragm on top of that
Gasket under the top cover.

If you are installing a new kit, the 37 uses the thin gasket.

Let the 1010S get some excercise today. Pushed over a dead Leland Cypress in the side yard. Sectioned it up to haul to the pile.
No problems to report.
That saw has a nice-sounding idle and exhaust note. Never done much to it. Just a good old saw.

I 've got one of the last 10-10's ever made .It had sat some time in a basement bought by tree trimmer who didn't use it very long .Had the orginal Mac chain .Typical tree trimmer the brake had been disconnected .I had another one so it wasn't a big deal plus it was a freebie .More or less just a shelf queen these days .As for the SP 81 got one too and I think it has more grunt than an 850 .Another that sees very little action .

Parade was Saturday for our Watermelon Days celebration. You can see the pen for the calf bingo set up across the street from my building.

The belt sander races out front were done by the time I got back from the program honoring our state championship football team in 1981, I was teaching school when those young men were 8-11 grade.

Last week was the parade in Dike, this week is the Steam and Gas power show in Baraboo, WI. McCulloch saws are well represented.

I took a break from my 125 to tear into the SP81, a split recoil pulley was responsible for the "locked up" state I bought it in. A teardown and cleaning was in order, after some scrubbing and scraping all the carbon out of the muffler I was ready to do a p/v test, spark test, and then begin re-assembly! The pile of carbon in the one pic is about 1/4 inch tall, but somehow the spark screen wasn't even slightly plugged.

Everything was going well till the spark test. For some reason the flywheel nut kept coming loose when I was spinning the saw over with a drill. And then I realized it was actually the flywheel coming loose. Uh oh! Now I've got a good used crank waiting next to it on the bench, as well as some new seals.

I'm trying to re-assemble my 6-40, is a ring gap of roughly .025 too much?

640? No locating pins on that one, should be more like 0.012 on the wide side, small as 0.006 is probably O.K.
