I'm wanting to get some older saws to mess with and came across these

Nice, I have enjoyed working on mine so far, even though I have taken a while to get to it. The guys that post in this thread are a big part of what makes it fun. I am on a few different forums for various interests across the net, and I haven't ever seen a nicer and more helpful group of folks.

Automotive, gun, and atv forums seem to be the worst. That's why I live here!

@Steve - Don't forget baseball card forums. I am a member of one, I don't recommend it.

My question a few posts back, I have some more info. I am little confused on a replacement of the 61618 for the FW side oil seal on the 1010 series (if it's using the 63429B bearing)

I found some info posted a while back on here that shows an skf 6373 in the place for a 61618. ( see bottom for pic). Also posted separately in this thread says the replacement for the 61618 is an skf 5756.

Not sure which is correct skf 5756 or 6373 for the replacement of the 61618. I also have read that a 14x35x7 seal replaces the 61618.

It looks to me the shaft is the only difference and that the 5756 is actually the correct replacement for the 61618? I say that because I found some info that the shaft diameter on the 61618 seal is .562.

I am wondering if anyone has used any three of these replacements with any success? ( skf 5756 , skf 6373, or 14x35x7)

Dimension for the SKF 6373.

Double Lip Oil Seal - Solid

0.625" Shaft

1.375" Outside Diameter

0.250" Width

Dimensions for the SFK 5756

0.563" Shaft

1.375" Outside Diameter

0.250" Width

14x35x7 Dimensions

0.551" Shaft

1.378" Outside Diameter

0.276" Width

Honestly I have never encountered a bad bearing in any McCulloch I've seen, the only exceptions I have even ever heard about were caused by water damage.
Ive handled dozens, maybe when you get into Marks territory of numbers then you might start seeing mechanical failures of bearings.

Of the 50-60 10 series I've been in I've never had a bad bearing either.

Here is the style you need for the standard 10-10. They are very hard to find and also fit the 2-10, 3-10, 4-10, 5-10 withe the SDC carb. They may work with the 1-10, 2-10, and 3-10 with the bullfrog Mac carb but the cover on those are a bit shorter. The 2-10 super and I believe the 2-10g both use the flat filter you show above.

Since it's been mentioned I have never had a bad bearing and seldom a bad seal .On a points system only one bad coil and it worked after being inside the house for a few months .I gave it a good dousing with Gylptal and it's on a 10-10 as I type .
