On those GTG's they used to be all over the state of Ohio ,kind of died down .The farthest I've traveled was about 4 hours twice .Once to near Meadville Pa and once to the southwestern border of Indiana .I've tried for 3 or 4 years to make it down to Randy's thing but something always comes up .I enjoy them though .Right now I'm up to my buttocks in alligators trying to get a rental house in shape to either rerent or sell .I had a good renter but he died .Problem was he never informed me for over 20 years if things needed done .Now I'm playing catch up .I've been at it for over 6 weeks every day .I may or may not get it by August first .WTH I'm retired and working my butt off .That's just not right .It's elder abuse I tell you .:(

So I found the Proline Viton tank gasket on Sawzilla. I think Travers creek carries the same one.
Doesnt seem to come with the rubber for the air box seal.
Is that available? If so, do I search it by part number?
What do you guys do?
The old one is pretty gooey.
Could make one. I have some rubber I could cut.

The air box was never actually rubber, they were strips of a tar like rope gasket, I see them on EBay infrequently but you could use a thin self adhesive foam to replace it , kind of like that sh!t the give you when you buy the 100.00 air conditioner at Walmart and your like "what the hell am I supposed to do with this stuff ?" Solution = seal the air box of your McCulloch!

I always used permatex No. 1.

You may be thinking of MotoSeal 1 which is also called Ultimate Grey and is the 29132 number I referred to previously.

Nope, I know of motoseal. No. 1 & No.2 are identical other than their cure properties. 1 sets hard and 2 sets soft. I doubt you could even get motoseal to fill the void for the airbox seal.

Before I found some nos tar strips for the air box I'd smear some heavy grease in the joint to keep fines out, plumber's puddy or something similar would possibly work also.

Wasn't suggesting it, though I'm sure it would work just as well as the Yamabond in combination with a strip of gasket material.

I was still talking about sealing fuel tanks and simply offering some possible clarification in the numbers being tossed around since
Permatex 1 and 2 are distinctly different products than MotoSeal.

You could probably be good with any Permatex product,1,2, aviation or Indian Head gasket shellac . This stuff started out in the days of the Model T Ford and it still works .BTW old Caterpillars used number one .You'll never save those gaskets except the valve cover which is 1/4" cork unless some fool doped it up .

Thanks for all of the suggestions.
I think what I'll do is cut some cork or felt gasket and give it a light smear of Motoseal.

Not much. It's a solid state ignition for one not as easy to bump the timing as an older points type .Start from the exhaust and work backwards .If it can't get out it can't get in is all I can say .

Sooo,
Any advice for porting a 1010S?:couch:

I'd be afraid of chipping the plating. Not the most robust of quality. I'm sure gains can be had but without an easy way to boost compression it may not be worth the time?
