I know The Pas, not well but I've been there. I have a distinct memory of loading on to a twin otter for a flight to Pukatowagon in 1991. Flight crew told us we were going to be overloaded and were leaving some baggage behind. We were told to walk past the hanger and look and see what was being left so we wouldn't miss it on the other end. In the end 3 of us had bags / equipment being left and all said "No point in my going without my stuff" so the just loaded it on anyway...

That was two years after they flew us out of there because that part of the country was burning up. They took the elderly, the women, and the children first (they accidentally took greendohn at this time on account of he is a bona fide midget), before they took us out the next morning.

We flew for almost an hour and a half before we could see anything but smoke. That big Sikorsky was a treat to fly in - they left the back door open so I had a great view of the country, even though all I could see was smoke. :)

No closed season here, but I don't think many people actively hunt them. Have seen some big yotes, as well as their kills, though usually not much left.

The bobcats seem to be on the rise where we hunt. Big reason, I think, that our turkeys seem a lot more scarse and less vocal too.

Yours are probably like ours. Coyote/ grey wolf hybrids. Big. People from out west see one of our coyotes they think we're *s-wordtin them." That's a German Shepherd ".

Coyotes here are small..20 or so years ago, there was a bounty for coyotes. If you brought in a set of ears to the odfw, they'd give you moolah. The highest I have seen it was $100 per set. Quite a few of my high school buddies made decent money doing this.

Yes, there is discussion about wolf coyote hybrid here in the Northeast. I believe it, some of them are real big.

We used to have bounty, too. Wish they would bring it back.
