5th generation farm. I don't farm but own the house n 4.9 acres. My cousin owns n farms the 80 tillable (and more). Pretty good chance it will be a Solar Farm along with several neighbors. This will end rifle hunting for sure otherwise can't see a downside to solar panels as neighbors.

Any experiences with solar farms?
Basically all the tillable shown. Me @Home
I have full respect for the owners and moderators of this great site and do not want to to piss in my Wheaties bringing politics in but ..............

Talked to someone last Friday that was working on putting in a few hundred acres of corn. Seeing a lot of field prep but not so much of the planters running so far.
The standing joke is "you may win the race to plant first...........and the race to plant second." The seed companies "luv them long time"

I don't think waterfowl is being actively hunted!
I'd have to ask a coworker whom is a hunter.

Pheasants & 4-legged forest mammals are plentiful and we do have good "nature" coverage for them to thrive.

My mom said our Runner laid her first annual egg two days ago.
Let the egg collecting begin! 😊

I live on the top of the bluff looking out across the Mississippi River to Iowa. This is big duck and goose hunting territory. The hunting blinds on the river are highly regulated and sought after. In Illinois every two years there is a lottery for them. The way it used to be and as far as I know still is was our county has a meeting in mid-summer at the Forest Preserve. If you want a chance at a blind you show up with your hunting license and duck stamps. They enter your name in the drawing. Everyone has a map of all the blind locations and they are numbered. As names are drawn that person selects the number of the blind that they want. It can get very heated with confrontation. Up until about 1974 my father and his friend had blind #70 which was a premier location. One day the group was "on the ducks" and harvested 50. In the 1974 drawing someone else took the blind as their name was drawn ahead of Dad. When his name was drawn he took #65 which was not as productive. In 1986 his name did not even get drawn and that was the end of of his duck hunting. It was a sad ride home from the Forest Preserve.
