I’ve got two also. Mine have gotten spread out though. I’ll have calves now and who knows when.

Bulls got kicked in with cows on fathers day last year. Got tired of them being spread out over a longer time. Almost all the fall calves were born within a two week time period with just a single straggler. Try for two months in and four months out with the bulls. Nicer to have calves all the same size when it comes to selling.

I have a yearling Angus bull that I'm raising to be a breeding bull. He's a horny mfer. If he wasn't in with the cows, I bet he would be damn near impossible to keep in a fence.

Yesterday I picked up a "domesticated" wild duck.
Her man disappeared mysteriously, predatory foul play is suspected.
Without his support the yards cock was harassing her and she quacked lonesome without replies.

Sound acclimatization to my ducks 24+ hours.
Will try and join them tomorrow under strickt supervision.

She can fly being a wild duck, as such I am considering to cut some of her wings primary feathers, only the soft part coming from the feather stem though.



My Indian Runner ducks, I am down to one girl.
Not having luck with them.

I secured a stable section with fence wire and let the wild duck out of the rabbit box she was in.

I installed a light just for her stable section so she isn't in a half darkness all day.
We have some notable cloud coverage lately and the stable windows are quite small.

Yeah, I separated them for the night.
Will do meet up sessions like this and hope they warm up to each other.

The Wild is certainly intrigued, she is suddenly quacking much more than she was these past two days.

Runners cornered themselves again this evening not knowing how to deal with the Wild.


The Wild knows she wants company, she followed the Runners to their overnight section.


We will get there, nice and easy.
Food will bridge their differences.

Talked to someone last Friday that was working on putting in a few hundred acres of corn. Seeing a lot of field prep but not so much of the planters running so far.

5th generation farm. I don't farm but own the house n 4.9 acres. My cousin owns n farms the 80 tillable (and more). Pretty good chance it will be a Solar Farm along with several neighbors. This will end rifle hunting for sure otherwise can't see a downside to solar panels as neighbors.

Any experiences with solar farms?
