Taking the girls long enough to kick out some calves. The one I figured would be first is still very round. Lots of heifers this year, may be time to do some bull changing soon. Been planning on keeping some for rebuilding the herd with younger stuff, just not expecting to do it this quickly.
It’s too damn hot for them girls to be laboring, front is coming in later this week, things will happen quickly then.

Kind of enjoyed the cool front we had a couple weeks ago or so. Had some mid 50's mornings then. One thing right now is the flies have gone nuts with hotter weather returning. Got a little 1/2 gallon sprayer for some permethrin spray that works out decently. Need to replace the o-ring that seals it, seems it don't like the oil based sprays.

Wasn’t he the fella that killed his neighbor over farm ground rental dispute or something along those lines ?

What’s all gone ?

This pair was supposed to go to their new home today AM, but the potential new owner canceled our agreed upon meet for the third time.

I believe these ducks need a home that'll care more for them.
I have a "reservation" for a pair out of the second brood, I agreed to give these people this pair so they can enjoy ducks sooner.

Mallard (mom) and Indian Runner duck (dad) hybrids.

Too many heifers this year for some reason. Keeping extra mineral lick tubs out to see if it makes a difference for next year. Old freckles finds me on the tractor every morning I am out for some range cubes. She is old and won't have another calf but has been part of the herd for so long she will die on the place. Got some that need to go to market when they gain a little weight back after weaning the calves.

I'm usually not the 'safety guy' when it comes to farm equipment, but I have to say that moving round bales in an open station skid steer is sketchy, even by my standards.
Many decades ago we sadly lost a neighbor and a great man in a tractor accident. He was moving cinder blocks in the bucket of a narrow front 2 cylinder Deere.

Lots of that going on here as well. We have knocked out about 100 acres of corn & 600 or so acres of beans.

Hopefully we can knock out Dads 130 acres of beans tomorrow. Weather is plenty toasty ( 85* or more ) but it’s usually pretty damp until 10:00am or so & the dew has been setting in around 7:30 - 8:00pm.

Lots happening around here !! Combining 83bu beans which is bonkers. We are averaging over 80bu/a so far after roughly 400 acres. I figured I’d have enough space for 60bu/a in the bins. Gonna have to have a few loads hauled out this fall in a hurry !!

Pops combined for a while so I could roll up 137 bales of bean straw for bedding.

Looks like we already spent some of the extra bean money  Brand new 2026 Grand Design Imagine 2470BH. I went to the dealer looking for a new awning fabric for our 25yr old camper. I guess I found a new awning. Gonna have to tell the tax guy it’s an office so I can put it on the depreciation schedule lol.
